Default A forum request

Wouldn't it be an idea to have a department for lost / hijacked threads?

I mean, the flameforum is not always the best place to put a thread that has been... um lets call it "let off track". In the case of the thread from Itsreallyme i think it's the wrong place to put it, as it's a thread of great value, still.

Great, maybe one of those administrative profiles would bless the thread with a visit too

The decision on this one would be down to Dai.

However, can I ask how you would envision something like this working and What would you name the forum ?

Well, i was a moderator on a large danish forum, some time ago. We had a forum called "rablerummet" freely translated to "Ramblin' room" or something like that. This particular part of the messageboard was later on divided into several subforums, so people who just came to chat could be, but that's beside my point.

Threads that were hijacked or threads lacking seriousness were put there, as some sort of garbage can, but not quite, as people who still had some unclosed matters in a thread still could post, without having the threads completely ruined by the town criers / forum trolls.

So, a forum could be called "unfinished business" and contain threads which have run off topic, as an example.

The important thing is, that not every thread is ruined, just because it's gone off topic. More than that, i don't feel that the flames forum deserves to be a waste basket.

Call it the zombie forum or something - it's for threads that are dead, but they just don't know it. The ones that get moved to flames, while having outlived their usefulness in the regular forums are usually still too serious for flames.

Zombie is kinda cheesy but on the right track, I would go with like junkyard or something since they are kinda dead, but some people still might find interest in them. right?

Not to sidetrack this thread, but I moved "Re-introduce myself" to Flames because that's where it belongs.

There may or may not have been material of value in that thread; that doesn't change the fact that you can't reasonably start a thread in a forum by accusing its members of spewing "shit" of any ethnic persuasion and talk about the sheer "ethnicness" of the forum in a disparaging manner and not expect to piss people off. I saw this assertion being borne out in that thread wonderfully and saw no reason to let it go on outside its true home.
