Hi,

I registered with the name ".Mark", but vBulletin is confusing me with the user "Mark"!

(Marvin the Martian is NOT my avatar -_-)

.Mark gets Marks avatar and profile link.

His actual profile works, at http://joindiscussion.com/members/.mark.html - but clicking his name links you to mark's.

This is quite funny. Mark hasn't been active for three weeks, maybe drop him an email and ask if you can have his name?

Or of course, ask to have yours changed? Seems a bit unfair when vBulletin let you have it.

I'd recommend just recreate your account with some other version of "Mark." That way you can get up and running here with a working account if you aren't especially attatched to having the dot at the beginning of your name.

This could be solved by making vB use the user's number rather than the user's name when storing this data? I thought that'd be common practise?

I do think the profile problem is solely linked to your Google friendly changes/plugin to vB, which links the user as:

http://joindiscussion.com/members/.mark.html
rather than:
http://joindiscussion.com/member.php?u=8203

... which actually still works. Interesting.

I think Matt is correct. I administrate a vBulletin forum, and I have not had any issues like this before.

However, I am not going to ask for the entire link structure to be changed because of me.

If at all possible, can my name be changed to "MarkNET", then? Thank you!

It can't be that hard to fix.

Disabling/revoking the profile URL modification will fix that aspect of it.

As for the avatar, just make sure it uses the same write/read function as the signature, location, join date and post count fields, which I assume are user number based, rather than username based, which seems to be avatar specific.

Of course, you shouldn't have to do this yourself when you're paying for vBulletin. But still, I know you're pretty knowledgeable administrators here (you still see some idiots running forums) and wouldn't have trouble doing this.

Just a thought.

By the way, I'm the one who referred .Mark/MarkNET here, which accounts for my high interest and contribution in this thread.
