Default Forum Suggestions

I would like to make the suggestion to combine or condense the 'television', 'movie', 'games', 'music' and 'sports' into an 'entertainment' forum.

I would also suggest making a 'focus' or 'focal' forum where people can talk personally. The two 'hot seat/spotlight' threads could go in that category.

Just some thoughts..

I agree with the first suggestion, RJ. Those forums are not as frequented as the other forums, such as the "General Forum," "News and Politics" forum, and "Religion and Ethics" forum or whatever it's called these days.

We don't need as many forums. A few of them could be condensed into a single forum.

get rid of as many catagories and rules as possible. no one who doesn't care is going to sift through 3,000 sub-catagories just to find a topic they;re interested in. and, rules about speech are insane.

+1.

What rules about speech?

I also suggest combining the literature, travel, computers, health and fitness, food and drink, and autos into a 'hobby' forum.

I believe one of the problems with this forum is there are too many categories.

I agree. I think that ideally, there should be few enough forums so that someone with an average sized screen doesn't have to scroll down to the bottom to see the top five recent posts.

I have the impression sdkub thinks 'longer' is better. However, I have seen forums and other shorter things that work just as well if not better. size is not important, although some say it makes a difference. I like to think quality and commitment matters. Why do I say that? Maybe it's all I can say on the subject, maybe I really believe it.

In any event, sdkub, if your out there, I hope you are considering what your members are saying. I know for a fact this place getting old for some.

Yeah, too many categories IMO... I wouldn't mind if there was just one category called "off topic" It would make seeing the last posts easier.

If there are catagories, I thought the previous layout was nice where there were two levels ... broad and narrow groups. Although that didn't work as good with the "news" section.
