First your id, and now your balls... man, that's rough.

I don't know. That whole rasczak/rjwood domestic dispute was getting pretty tedious, as well, in my view.

And when you have people going round attacking others for having no opinion of their own, just because they post links to articles (however interesting these may be), then you're not exactly going to inspire potential newcomers to take part, are you?

Fair enough. It just seemed like there was a dramatic decrease in activity, and that was the only incident I could identify.

On your first point, first, RJ has not "rattled my cage" so I'm not going to go looking for a confrontation, and secondly, I was going to reel it in anyway because like you say, I don't think the rest of the forum was enjoying it as much as I was. Thirdly, behind the scenes, RJ and I had some nice talks and kissed and made up. Fourth, where the hell is RJ anyway? He seems to have lost interest in the forum about the time we cooled off.

On your second point - all I'm doing is encouraging people to man-up and discuss their views. Maybe even think for themselves. If I want to read blog posts and propaganda articles, I'll go read blogs and propaganda articles. Everyone is entitled to my own opinion, and that's mine. But I don't represent the admins or staff, so people should feel free to copy and paste stuff onto this forum all they want. Until I'm told otherwise, I'm free to try to get them to think for themselves.

I know what you're trying to do, and I think I understand why you do it. But the thing is, and I apologise for getting a bit fluffy here, but I see these discussion forums, and maybe discussions in general, as a kind of big, flowing stream. In some places there are rapids and lots of foam, and that can be exciting, and in other places there's a more calm, meandering flow; a gentle chipping in. Sometimes people post things they don't yet have an opinion on, and they're not looking for a vigorous discussion, they're just offering it up as food for thought. And some people like being offered food for thought, exploring issues without turning them into a rapid.
But maybe that's just me.
