| Commentator | Hi, Can we please disable the need to click the little arrow to enable the quick reply box? It's easily done in the vB administration panel. It just wastes time, slows down reply rate, and doesn't provide any accurate statistical information anyway. I understand one certain layout uses it in order to see what people are replying to, or something, but people only ever click the last one (closest to the box) anyway. This is one of the only forums I know to use this, ubuntuforums being the other, and it's the sole reason I don't post as much, it truly annoys me. The idea to remove the need for the icon got overwhelming support at Ubuntuforums, but nobody important took any action, and I've basically stopped visiting there. I just hope that although the administration is the same here maybe they'll think differently. Anyone else agree with me here? Shouldn't we just have an active box at the bottom of each page? "Please click one of the Quick Reply icons in the posts above to activate Quick Reply." is just an annoyance. Matt Last edited by Matt : 06-13-2007 at 01:41 PM. |

| Eligible for a custom title | I have to agree. I usually just click the last QR button on the page to access it. So I can see how the threaded mode gets messed up. In my opinion, I'd get rid of this requirement. That's just me though. ![]() |

| Stirrer Of Shit | I put my vote in for getting rid of it too. I frequent another board that uses this software and there is no need to click the button. If it has to remain the way it is, I'd be interested in learning why. In answer to Matts last question, some of the mods are very active on the forums, but if participation is any indicator of how much the admin reads the forum, I would guess no - the admin has not seen this request. |

| Commentator | I'll add my voice to the "get rid of the click" crowd. I think a "quick reply" should be just that: quick. Also, it's a completely unnecessary function, as clicking the "quote" button is easier and does essentially the same thing. I generally use the "quote" button when I'm replying to a specific post -- or a full text editor for really long posts -- and the "quick reply" box when typing a short response to the thread in general -- like I did here . |
