Default Chinese Food.

Who eats Chinese food, and what particular dises are your favorites?

I particularly like it all, but i can't tolerate all that salt, so I have to ask the restaurants to leave out the MSG. Most will do that if you can't or don't want it in your food.

My doc suggests not eating s whole lot of salt, as it is dangerous for my heart condition and well being!

I am very fond of Chinese food, but it is not a cheap option for takeaway food here, so it is pretty rarely I get to eat it.

As for the salt, your Doc is spot on - but importantly, salt is something that you can lose from the diet and you will become accustomed to it and after a while won't miss it. I stopped putting salt on (or in) food years ago, and for a little while, things *seemed* a little less flavorsome, but before long at all, things seemed to just start tasting just as good, without the salt. If you are talking about something really bland, like straight steamed rice for example, then yes, it may always seem a bit bland without salt. But the trick there is to eat it as an accompaniment to something that has a lot of flavour (which is usually the done thing with steamed/boiled rice anyway).

I've been eating foods with low sodium for a long time now.

I love Chinese dumplings, I fell in love in them when I was on a business trip in China.

Chinese food is ok, and I have some from time to time. I prefer Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese food. Sometimes Japanese.

The thing with Chinese food is not a lot of it is good for you. Especially if you consider "Panda Express" Chinese food. Panda Express is to Chinese food what Taco Bell is to Mexican.

Yes it does, if you want a LOT of fat and empty carbohydrates, Chinese restaurants are one good place to go.

You CAN get some healthy veggies in a light sauce if you ask for it. And some plain boiled white rice.

Pork-fried rice has too much fat - pieces of fat in it!

There's always the difference between the food western Chinese restaurants sell, and what people sell and eat in China itself.

Rasczak mentioned Panda Express, which I assume is some franchise/chain/fast food thing and there's probably a little of that in manym if not mostm non-franchise Chinese restaurants as well.

At least that's the impression when I had business in Mainland China.

Julian

In addition to China, just about every major city in America has a "Chinatown", which is known for having pretty good Chinese food.

Still, you have to know what you're going after.
