Chapter Twenty
It’s now six o’clock and Paige is limping out of the girl’s locker room after spirited squad practice. Hazel, Manny, Darcy are waiting for Paige outside of the school. Hazel looks over at Darcy who is setting across from her.

Hazel: You stay behind with Paige this morning in the locker room Darcy, Did Paige hurt her leg this morning, I know she told us that she did not hurt her leg, but its really swelling?
Darcy: I know as much as you do, she did not tell me anything. I stay behind in the locker room, because I need to use the restroom is all.
Hazel: What taken Paige so long?
Manny: I have to go see y’all tomorrow.

Manny stands up and walks away from degrassi. At the sometime Manny is walking away from the school. Darcy mom pulls her car up in front of the school and she stands up. Darcy grabs her bags then walks over to her mom’s car and gets in. As she closes the car door, Paige walks out of the school and waves bye to her. Darcy waves bye back as he mom pulls the car out of school parking lot. Hazel stands up and walks over to Paige.

Hazel: Paige you want to go to the mall and see a movie, I will drive?
Paige: No, I am going to go home and work on homework and go to bed early.
Hazel: Paige, is everything ok you are limping and you right leg is really swell from the knee down, you are luck you wear a jean skirt, because if you were wear a pair of jean the pant leg would be cut the blood flow off to your right leg.
Paige: Mine right leg is not that swelling Hazel and it’s not sore at all, so just drop the subject.
Hazel: Fine, do you want me to give you a ride home?
Paige: No, I am going to walk home!
Hazel: Fine, I will see you in the morning then Paige.
Paige: Yeah I will see you in the morning.

Hazel walks over to her car and throws her bags into the backseat then gets behind the wheel and drives off. Paige slower starts walking home. She makes it as far as the dot and needs to set down, so she walks inside and takes a set at the first table. She then puts her legs up on the chair that is across from her. She grabs a menu from the table and start looking at it. As she looking at the menu, Paige is thinking to herself. I really do not feel like eating anything, but I need to eat to keep my strengths up for the cheerleading meet tomorrow morning. Spinner, walks up to the table Paige is setting at.

Spinner: Can I take your order Paige?
Paige: Ah-Choo, Yeah I will have the chicken noodle soup and a large coffee.
Spinner: Are you feeling all right Paige, because it sounds like you are not feeling good?
Paige: Yeah, I feel fine.
Spinner: And you sneeze for the fun of it Paige?
Paige: Kim’s cat took a shower with her this, Ah-Choo, this morning so she smelling like a wet cat this morning at spirited squads practices, Ah-Choo, which made by allergic act up.
Spinner: Ok, I will go put your order in and get your coffee for you right away.
Paige: Thanks.

Spinner, walks back up to the counter and gives the order to the cook. He then grabs a large coffee cup and fills the cup up. Spinner, then takes Paige her coffee. Paige takes the coffee mug from him and takes a sip right a way.

Spinner: Your soup will be out in a minute.
Paige: Ok, Spinner.

As Spinner walks away and over to other table to take their order. Paige sets her coffee mug down, then leans back in her seat and closes her eyes. She does not open her eyes back up to Spinner brings her chicken noodle soup over and set it in front of her. Paige set up and slower eats her soup, which help make her feel a little better. When she finishes eaten, she slower takes her feet off the seat that across from her. Paige is thinking to herself, I am really hot. I am going to take my blazers off since I have a black tank top under it. She turns around in her seat and takes the blazers off. As she was about to get up Jay walks over to the table that she sitting at and takes a set next to her.

Paige: Jay, what do you want?
Jay: I just wanting to say hi and see how you are doing?
Paige: OH, I am, Ah-Choo doing, Ah-Choo, fine.
Jay: You are not coming down with the cold that Lexi had?
Paige: No, it’s just allergic. Kim come to spirited squads practice smelling like a wet cat. Jay, can you give me a ride home?
Jay: Doesn’t your brother or one of your parents pick you up?
Paige: My dad out of town on business trips. My mom has a business dinner tonight and Dylan is at hockey practice.
Jay: Sure I will give you a ride home Paige.
Paige: Thanks.

Paige and Jay stand up and Paige grabs her book bag and gym bag. She then goes over to the counter and pays for her soup and coffee. Neither Jay nor Paige talks to eachother as Jay drive Paige home. Jay looks over at Paige when he stops at a red light and sees that she has fallen to sleep with her head rest up against the window. He takes off when the light turns green and lets Paige sleep. He pulls into the drive way at Paige houses and puts his car into parked. He then taps paige on her shoulder and notices that she is hot to the touch. When she does not wake up, he taps her shoulder again.

Jay: ( Shakes Paige) Paige, we are at your house you need to wake up.
Paige: (Open her eyes and looks around.) I am sorry, did I fall asleep?
Jay: Yeah you did Paige, are you sure you not catch Lexi cold because you are warm to the touch?
Paige: I am not getting sick, I am just warm for spirited squads practice is all, I will cool down after I take a shower.
Jay: Ok, just asking don’t bite my head off.
Paige: Thanks for give me a ride. I will see you around.
Jay: No problem Paige, I will see you around too.

Paige opens the car door and gets out of the front seat off his car. She close the door and walks to the backseat door and open it up and grabs her bags off the seat then close the door. She waves bye to Jay as she walks up to the front door . Jay waits to make sure Paige gets into the house then he back out of the drive way and heads to work. Once inside she walks into the kitchen. She walks over to the counter and open up one of the drawer and gets out two large zip locker bags. Paige walks over to the refrigerated and open up the icebox and gets out the full ice cube trays. She takes the ice cube trays over to the counter and puts the ice cubes into the bags. Before she heads upstairs to her bedroom, she refills the trays and puts them back into the icebox.
Once she in her bedroom she gets out her homework then sets the homework on her bed. She lays down on her stomach and put the bag of ice under her right knee and lower right leg. After a hour of working on her math homework and not get anything done she close her math book and throws her homework onto the floor. She stands up and limps out of her room and to the bathroom, she closes the door behind her. She then goes over to the sink and reach into the medicine cabinet. She grabs the digital thermometer out of the cabinet. She turns the thermometer on, then puts it into her mouth. Meanwhile, at the sometime over at Alex, Chad and Emily place. Alex is on her cellphone and she is talking to Jay.

Jay: Lexi, have you talk to Paige or saw her today?
Alex: Yeah, She stop by this morning to say hi, before going to Spirited Squads practice, way are you ask me this?
Jay: Because I see her at the dot and she asks me to give her a ride home, I give her a ride home since everyone in her family was busy, But on the ride to her house in my car she fall asleep and she could not stop sneezes. I also notice when I tap her shoulder to wake her up she was warm to the touch.
Alex: I hope she, coughs, is not getting sick, but she felt really clammy this morning.
Jay: How are you feeling Lexi?
Alex: Better, I still have a cough. The doctor is allowing me to go back to school tomorrow, but I am not allowed to go back to work.
Jay: When are you allowed to go back to work?
Alex: Not till next Friday.

Back at the Michalchuk household thirty seconds later, the thermometer starts beeping and Paige taken it out of her mouth and looks at it. Great I am run a lower grade fever of 38.3 Celsius (101 Fahrenheit.) She puts the thermometer away then takes some Tylenol cold and flu. She heads back into her bedroom. She closes her bedroom door then changes into her PJ. Paige then gets into bed and goes to sleep. She sleeps really rough, because she is all stuffed up and can stop coughing. Also, her right leg won’t stop throbbing.

Chapter Twenty-One
Its Friday morning and the day of the cheerleading meet and it’s 5:37 a.m. and Paige is still asleep even though she has a Spirited Squad practice this morning. Paige Jumps out of bed when she hears Dylan bang on her bedroom door and shout at her to get out of bed. As soon as her feet touch the ground she gets a stab pain up her right leg. She falls forward and catches herself before she hits the ground by grab onto her desk. She can feel tears run down her face as she slow limp over to her dresser and get out a pair of grey workout pants and the matching jacket. She then grabs a red tank top. Lastly she grabs a pair of underwear and sportsbra. She gets changes really fast then grabs her gym bag and throws her spirited squad uniform into the bag and then walks out of her bedroom, as she heads to the bathroom she thinking to herself. I feel like I have the flu. I am ache all over. I have a sore throat, and my nose is still stuff up. She goes into the bathroom and closes the door behind her and looks into the mirror and sees how pale she is. She opens the medicine cabinet and grabs her toothbrush and brushes her tooth. She quickly combs her hair and pulls it up into a ponytail. She knows she won’t get out of the house looking so pale, so she throws on some make up. She pulls the thermometer out and then turn the thermometer on. She puts the thermometer into her mouth and takes a set on the edge of the bathtub. The thirty seconds seem to take forever, but when it finally beeps, she takes the thermometer out of her mouth and sees she has a fever of 39.9 C (103.9 F). I am really sick and I can hardly put any weight on my right leg. How am I going to make it through the cheerleading meet? Paige picks her gym bag up and put the thermometer and puts the Tylenol cold and flu into her gym bag. She then walks out of the bathroom and heads into her bedroom. She grabs her book bag, then walks downstairs and heads out the floor door and is happy when she sees that her mom has left for work. She has starts to walk to the bus stop when a car pulls up to the sidewalk and stop. Paige sees its Jay and Alex is with him.

Alex: Sweetie Jay is going to give as a ride to school.
Paige: (Clear her throat.) Thanks

Paige open the backdoor and gets into Jays car. Alex looks back at her girlfriend and can see that she looks tired and that she also looks like she is in a lot of pain. Paige leans her head up against the car window and closes her eyes. She then starts coughing and covers her mouth with her left hand.

Jay: How are you feeling today Paige?
Paige: Great, never better!
Alex: Are you sure about that, because you sound awful and are not looking to good either?
Paige: I said I feel fine Lexi!
Alex: Ok
Paige: Why are you coming, Ah-Choo, to school so early Lexi?
Alex: To spent time with you.
Paige: I will be practice then getting ready for the meet!
Alex: I know Paige, But I want to watch your practice and I can set in the stands and do my homework, as I am watch you practice.
Paige: That cool and very sweet of you Lexi.

Jay pulls his car up to the front of Degrassi and puts the car into park, both Paige and Alex open they doors then get out of his car. Alex grabs her book bag off the floor and Paige grabs her gym bag and book bag. The girls wave bye to Jay and walks up the steps to the school. Jay watches the girls walk up the steps and into the school. He sees that paige is holding on to the rail of the step and that she is trying to hide the fact she is limping. He also sees that Alex is still getting wind really easy. When he sees that both girls have made it into the school, he starts to take his car out of park, when Mrs. Hatzilakos walks up to his car. He stops takes the car out of park and rolls down his window.

Mrs. Hatzilakos : Jason Hogart what are you doing here?
Jay: Hello, Mrs. Hatzilakos . I was just drop Paige and Alex off.
Mrs. Hatzilakos: Ok, That fine seeing that Alex is just getting over been really sick and she does not need to be out in the chill air for too, long.
Jay: Would you keep an eye on Alex and Paige I am worry about both of them?
Mrs. Hatzilakos : Sure, but way are you worried about them?
Jay: I am worry about Alex because she still getting wind very easy and she still has a dry deep sounding cough and is also still making a wheeze sound when she is coughing.
Mrs. Hatzilakos : Why are you worry about Paige?
Jay: Because she has a dry cough and her nose is all stuff up. I also notice that her right leg is swell from the knee down and she is limping.
Mrs. Hatzilakos : All right, Jason’s I will keep a eye on them.
Jay: Thanks, I need to get to work now.
Mrs. Hatzilakos : Nice talk to you again.
Jay: Oh and by the way Mrs. Hatzilakos, I took the GED test last week and passed it.
Mrs. Hatzilakos : That great Jason, Are you going to go to college?
Jay: Yeah, I am starting up at the university of Toronto during the winter semester as an Auto mechanic major.
Mrs. Hatzilakos: Good luck
Jay: Thanks.

Mrs. Hatzilakos walk over to the sidewalk and Jay rolls his window up and takes his car out of park. Meanwhile, inside the school both Paige and Alex have reached the door of the gym, when Paige stops walking and looks at her girlfriend. Alex looks at Paige and can see that she needs to ask her something.

Alex: What is it honey?
Paige: ( Hand Alex’s some money.) Can you go to the lunch room and buy me four bottles of water, I forget too, bring my water bottle?
Alex: Sure, I will be right back.

Paige walks into the gym and over to the drinking fountain. She reach into her gym bag and take out the bottle of Tylenol cold and flu. She puts to pills into her mouth and take a sip of water from the drinking fountain to help wash the pills down. She has just put the Tylenol away when the rest of the spirited squad team walks into the gym and set down their bags on the stands. She walks over to the squad and sees both Alex and Emma setting in the first row of the stands. Alex stands up and goes over to Paige and hands her the water she asks for.

Paige: Thanks
Alex: No, big deal.
Paige: Ok, squad this morning practice is going to be to working on the moves that are in the routine that you are, Ah-Choo, having problems with.
Manny: Paige do you want to add the Herkie jump after the stand back tuck at the end of the routine or do you think the routine strong enough without it?
Paige: ( Sounds congested.) Let add the jump into the routine, because we are going to need it if we want to beat Lakehurst.
Manny: Ok, squad we should run through a few stands back tuck to a Herkie jump, so we have are time down for the meet.

The squad lines up and the group start practice the stand back tuck to a Herkie jump. After run through the moves ten times they have it down and break into group and help eachother go over parts of the routine they want to go over one last time.

Chapter Twenty-Two
Paige stops practice with ten minutes left and picks up her gym bag. She walks into the locker room. She goes over to her locker and set her gym bag on the bench. She leans her back up against her locker and puts her right hand on her forehead. When she hears everyone coming into the locker room, she walks over to her gym bag and unzips it. She then takes her spirited squad uniform out of the bag really fast and changes into her uniform. She grabs her gym bag off of the bench, after throws her workout outfit into the gym bag. She then heads back into the gym and set her gym bag down under a chair that has a sign that says Degrassi cheerleaders set here. She takes a seat in the chair that she has put her gym bag under. Paige then takes a drink of water out of one of the water bottle Alex’s brought her. When the bell rings for first hour to begin the spirited squad member along with Emma and Alex head to their first hour classes. Alex walks over to her girlfriend as she is walking out of the gym. Alex puts her left arm around Paige waists. Paige puts her head on Alex left shoulder and the two of them walks to home room together. When they get to class Paige get out her math homework and work on it. It takes her the whole forty-five minutes of home room to finish her math homework. When the bell rings for second hour Paige grabs her book bag and puts her math book into the book bag. She then stands up and head to Mrs. Kawn’s classroom so she can pick up her homework for that hour, because she has to head to the gym along with the rest of the team to help finishes set up for the meet, since they are the host school. When they get into the classroom Paige along with Hazel and Kim walks up to Mrs. Kawn, desk. Mrs. Kawn given each of them her homework along with the homework from their other class. Then the three girls start walking to the classroom door. Once out of the classroom they start head toward the gym. Alex runs up to Paige and pulls her over to the side of the hallway.

Paige: (Sniffling) What are you doing Lexi, I need to go to the gym to help set, Ah-choo, up for the meet.
Alex: Paige are you sure that you are up to compete in the meet today, your right leg is swelled up and you can hardly walk on it. Also, when you lay your hand on my shoulder I could tell that you are run a fever and it sounds like you have the flu.
Paige: I am fine Lexi, I will see you after the cheerleader meet.

With that Paige walks away from Alex and head to the gym. She helps set up for the meet and then warms up with the rest of her squads. The other school squads start warm up, once they get there. Alex, Jay and Emma are setting in the stands watch the meet. Emma’s there to support Manny and Alex and Jay is there to support Paige. Alex is setting in the top row and lean up against the wall with her eyes close till she hears that the last squad to go is Degrassi. Alex opens her eyes and watches the routine. Alex’s sight with relief when she sees that Degrassi spirited squads gets to the last move of their routine, which is the standing back tuck to a Herkie jump. Paige lands the stand back tuck and does the jump with perfect time, but feels and hears her right knee, shine and ankle pop. She holds the ended long enough for the judges to release the squads from the floor. When she starts to walk off the floor with the rest of the team her right leg gives out on her and see falls to the floor. Paige grabs her right leg with both her hands and starts crying and screaming in pain. Mrs. Hatzilakos, Alex and Jay runs over to Paige and they kneel down next to her. When Paige sees Alex kneel next to her she take her left hand in her right hand.

Paige: My right leg hurts really bad and when I land the last jump of the routine my right leg made a loud pop sound. I could hardly stand on it after the jump and when I went to walk my leg went out.
Mrs. Hatzilakos: Jay Can you carry Paige out to your car and take her to the ER at Toronto General hospital.
Jay: Yeah
Alex: I am coming with you.
Jay: That fine.
Paige: Lexi, call my mom on my cellphone and let her know what is going on.
Alex: I will call your mom on the way Paige.

Jay’s picks Paige up and carry her out to his car. Alex open up the passenger’s door and Jay set Paige in the front seat. Alex throws her book bag and Paige book bag and her gym bag onto the back seat. She then gets into the backseat. Jay’s get behind the wheel of his car and pulls out of the school parking lot. As Jay was drive to the hospital Alex calls Paige mom and tells Mrs. Michalchuk to meet them at the ER at Toronto General Hospital.

Chapter Twenty-Three
Fifteen minutes later Jay pulls his car into the parking lot of the ER at Toronto General hospital. He drives up to the ER doors and puts his car into park. Alex gets out of the car and runs into the ER. She grabs a wheelchair and pushes it out to Jay’s car. Jay helps Paige out of the car and into the wheelchair. Alex Pushes Paige into the ER, as Jay goes and parks his car. A nurse walks over to the two girls and looks at Paige right leg. She takes the wheelchair from Alex as Jay walk up to them. The nurse pushes Paige into the ER and Jay and Alex follows the nurse and Paige back. Jay’s help the nurse lift Paige onto the hospital bed. Then the nurse pulls the curtain around. Jay walks out of the curtain area, so Alex and the nurse can get Paige changes into a hospital gown. As Jay is waiting outside of the curtain, Dylan walks up to him. Both Jay and Dylan give eachother an unconformable look and Jay puts his hands into his Jaen pockets.

Dylan: Has a doctor been back to see Paige yet Jay?
Jay: No, Not yet. The Nurse and Alex’s are Helping Paige into a hospital gown right now.
Dylan: Oh
Jay: How long is it going to be till your mom gets here, Paige wants to see her?
Dylan: She could not get out of the meeting that she is in right, but will try to be here soon.

The nurse open the curtain and pulls the curtain open and let Jay and Dylan walk over to Paige bed sides. Dylan walks over to Paige left-hand sides and takes her hand. Jay walks over and stands next to Alex who is holding Paige right hand. Dylan wipes a tear off his little sister face.

Nurse Speed: I have to asks you a few questions about what happed Paige.
Paige: Ok, Ah-Choo
Nurse Speed: When did you first hurt you leg, was it today or another day?
Paige: At Thursday morning cheerlead practices. I was doing a stand back tuck and when I landed the stand back tuck I felt my right leg from the knee down pop and it also made a loud creak sound, before I fall to the ground.
Nurse Speed: Did you have the school nurse look at your right lrg or go to see your family doctor afterward and get clear to take part in the meet?
Paige: No, I just push my self through the pain, because I want to take part in the meet today. I made it to the lasts move of the routine, which was a Herkie jump. When I landed the jump I felt and heard my right knee, shine and ankle pop. I was able to stay standing long enough for the Judge to let us know our team could leave the floor. When I went to walk off the floor with my team, my leg gave out and I fall to the floor.
Nurse Speed: Ok, have you take any medicine today?
Paige: Yeah just some Tylenol cold and flu. For the head cold I have.
Nurse Speed: Ok, One of the ER doctors will be back in a few minutes to take a look at your right leg.

Nurse Speed sets Paige chart on the end of the bed. She then walks away from Paige, Alex, Dylan and Jay. Paige looks at her bother and starts crying again and at the sometime start coughing. Dylan feels his little sister forehead and feels that she is running warm.

Dylan: Paige, do you know that you are running a fever?
Paige: Ah-Choo, Yeah
Dylan: You should have stay home and let mom know last night that you hurt you leg!
Paige: Jay can you go get me a pop or a bottle of water my throat is really dry?
Jay: Sure Paige, I will be right back.
Paige: Thanks
Alex: Can you get me a pop too, it time for me to take my medicine?
Jay: Sure Lexi.

Jay walks away from Alex, Paige and Dylan. He walks to the near pop/water vending machine. As Jay walks away Alex set down in the chair by Paige bed. She reaches into her shoulder bag. She grabs her asthma inhaler out of the bag. She shocks the inhaler and then takes a few puffs from her inhaler. She then throws the inhaler back into her shoulder bag. She notices that both Dylan and Paige are looking at her. Sees notice that they both look worried about her.

Paige: Coughs, Lexi is everything ok?
Alex: Yeah, just a little short of breath, which is normal for me when I getting over being sick.
Paige: Ok , I was just, Ah Ah-Choo, checking Lexi.

Jay’s walks over to Paige, Alex and Dylan carrying a MT Dew and a bottle of water. He heads Paige her water and then hand Alex her MT. Dew. Paige open the bottle of water and takes a few sips of the water. At the sometime Alex open up her pop and puts her medicine into her mouth. She takes a few sips of her pop to swallow her pills. A female doctor walks up to the end of the bed and picks up Paige chart. He looks at what the chart says then walks over to her right side.

Dr. Avatar: Hi I am doctor Avatar. I am going to take a look at your right leg.
Paige: (Sounds hoarse) Ok

Dr. Avatar lifts the sheet off of Paige right leg and looks at her leg. She sees that Paige knee, shine and ankle on her right leg are swell up to the size of watermelons and was also very bruised.

Dr. Avatar: I am going to touch her right ankle, let me know if it cause you a lot of pain?
Paige: But my leg really hurt!
Dr. Avatar: I know you leg hurt, but I need to know how much pain you are in when pressure is being put onto your ankle.
Paige: Alright

Dr. Avatar careful lifts up Paige leg in her right hand and starts putting pressure on Paige right ankle after only a few seconds Paige starts screams. Dr. Avatar stops put pressure on the ankle. Paige stop scream and stop squeezes her brother and Alex hands. Dr. Avatar then starts putting pressure on Paige shine and no soon then she has start Paige start screaming again. Dr. Avatar stop putting pressure on Paige shine. Paige relaxes and stops scream at the doctor.

Dr. Avatar: Ok, Paige I need you to bear with me for a little while on this one.
Paige: Why
Dr. Avatar: Because I need to feel your knee cap to check if it pop out of place and how easily it is to move your knee cap. So why don’t you look at Dylan or Alex and not look at what I am doing. I will be able to tell how much pain you are in by the look on your face.
Paige: Ok

Paige turns her head toward her girlfriend and they look into eachother eyes. Dr. Avatar starts to feel if Paige, right knee cap is in place. She finds that Paige knee feels in place in a straight, so she bend Paige, right knee and Paige squeezes Alex and Dylan hands. Dr. Avatar sees that Paige knee cap does not stay in place when she bends the knee. She straight Paige leg out and very careful move the knee cap to see how easily the knee cap moves with pressures put on it. Dr. Avatar stop putting pressures on Paige, right knee and pick up Paige chart up. She then writes down what she found on the chart.

Dr. Avatar: I do not like how easily your right knee cap is moving and how your ankle, shine or knee feels. I am going to sent you to have an MRI and X-rays done. Your Brother and Jay can come back with you and Alex can keep an eye out for you mom to get here, see that she is just getting over being sick and she needs to take it easy.
Paige: Ok.
Dr. Avatar: I am going to get the nurse to take you to have the X-rays and MRI.

Dr. Avatar walks away from them and goes to find a nurse. Dylan wipes the tears off the right side of Paige face. Alex wipes the tears off the right side of Paige face. Nurse Speed walks over to them and with the help of Dylan gets Paige into the wheel chair. Alex watches nurse Speed pushes Paige and Dylan along with Jay head towards the radiation department.

Chapter Twenty-Four
An hour later Dylan is push Paige back from having an MRI and several X-Ray taken and Jay fellow Dylan and Paige into the curtain area. Jay help Dylan gets Paige up from the wheelchair and into the hospital bed. Once Paige is comfortable, Dylan puts the ice packs back onto her knee and lower leg, Jay set down in the chair next to Alex on Paige right side and Dylan takes a set on paige-left hand sides. Paige reaches out and takes Alex left hand and Alex take Paige hand in her left.

Paige: Has my mom got here yet, Lexi?
Alex: No, Paige
Paige: Ah-Choo, Dylan can you call mom and see what is taking her, coughs, so long.
Alex: I talk to your mom, when you back have x-rays done and she said she was leaving her office build once she got off the phone with me. So she should be here soon Paige.

Paige lay her head back against the pillows and closes her eyes. Alex looks at her girlfriend and she notices that Paige has starts to cry again. Alex pulls a tissue out of the tissue box on the night stand and wipes the tears from Paige face. As Alex has wiped the last tear off of Paige face when Mrs. Michalchuk walks through the closed curtains and over to her daughter side. The first thing Mrs. Michalchuk sees when she looks down at her daughter is that from her right knee down two her toes are swollen up to the sizes of a watermelon. She also, notice that her daughters leg is also black and blue.

Paige: Mom, I am so sorry. I should have listened to Alex, Ah-choo, and not take part in the meet today.
Mrs. Michalchuk: It all right Paigey, lets waited and see what the doctor has to say, it might not be too, serious.
Paige: I can’t put any weighted on my right leg mom and you are saying that it might not be too, serious!
Mrs. Michalchuk: Oh Paigey, do try and calm down!
Paige: Mom, my whole life is Spirit squad and Alex. How I am I going to get a scholarship for college if I have to set out the whole cheerleader season.
Mrs. Michalchuk: Paigey, there is scholarship for good grades.

Just then Dr. Avatar walks through the curtains holding the reports to Paige MRI and X-rays and three nurses come walk in after the doctor. Each of the nurses our carrying items in their hands. The first nurse was carrying a MC walker boot (cast for her lower leg). The second nurse is carrying DonJoy legend knee braces and the last nurse is carrying a pair of crutch. Alex, Jay, Dylan, Mrs. Michalchuk knows by just seeing what the nurses is carrying that Paige has worry hurt her right knee and lower leg. Paige looks at her brother, mom, Jay and then Alex and by the looks on their face and what the nurse has in they hand that she is going to have a long recover ahead of her.

Paige: Dr. Avatar, what did I do to my right knee and from my shin down to my Ankle?
Dr. Avatar: I start with your knee, you have torn your ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL. You also tear your Meniscus.
Mrs. Michalchuk: Is that way nurse Smith is putting a Donjoy legend knee brace on my daughter right knee?
Dr. Avatar: Yes
Paige: What did I do to my shin and Ankle?
Dr. Avatar: You shin is just bruised, but you have torn your Achilles tendon and have a stress fracture in your ankle along with a badly bruised ankle bone. Mrs. Michalchuk here is copy of your daughter MRI and X-rays and reports, when Paige goes and sees orthopedic special, Dr. Bangs. She will need to take then with her and give them to him.
Paige: How long I’m I going to have to wear the walker boot and knee brace for?
Dr. Avatar: You are going to have to ask Dr. Bangs on that one Paige.
Paige: Ok, can my mom take me home now.
Dr. Avatar: Yeah, but take it easy and use the crutch, no putting wight on your right leg.
Paige: OK, Mom can Alex come over to the house?
Mrs. Michalchuk: No, You sounds like you have the flu Paige and Alex is just getting over being sick herself, so it best if Jay takes her home.
Alex: You mom is right Paige, beside I am still feeling weak and I am starting to feel feverish again.
Paige: Ok
Alex: I will call coughs, you in the morning and see how you are feeling.

Jay hand Mrs. Michalchuk her daughter gym bag and book bags. He then goes and pulls his car up to the ER door, so Alex does not have to walk outside in the chill air to his car. At the sometime Mrs. Michalchuk goes and pulls her mini van up to the ER doors. Dylan pushes Paige in the wheelchair to the ER doors and Alex walks beside Paige holding her left hand.

Chapter Twenty-five
It has been four days since the cheerleading meet. It is now Wednesday Afternoon and it is lunch hour and Alex is sitting in the lunchroom working on her homework, when Hazel comes into the lunchroom and walks over to the table Alex that is sit at. Hazel takes a set in the chair next to Alex and taps her on the shoulder to get Alex attention. Alex stops working on her homework and looks up at Hazel.

Alex: What Hazel?
Hazel: Have you heard for Paige since Friday, because I can’t get a hold of her?
Alex: No, I call her Saturday morning to see how she was feeling, but her mom says Paige was asleep and she would let Paige know that I call and have her call me back. But Paige never called me back and it now been three days.
Hazel: I am worry about her!
Alex: Me too!
Hazel: Alex do you want to come with me to Paige’s house after school to check on Paige?
Alex: Yeah
Hazel: Ok

Meanwhile, at the Michalchuk household Mrs. Michalchuk has just pulled her van back into the diver way from taking her daughters to her orthopedic appointment with Dr. Bangs. Mrs. Michalchuk looks over at Paige after turns her car off and sees that her daughter is crying. Paige open up the passengers sides door and slide out of the seat onto her good left leg. She hops to the slide door and open it up, she grabs her crutch and closes the van door. She then puts her crutch under her underarms and hops towards the front porch and then up the steps. Mrs. Michalchuk walks to the porch and up the steps. She then unlocks the front door and Paige hops insides and up the stairs to the second floor. When she gets upstairs, she walks down the hallway past the first bedroom on the right and the bathroom. She then turns and hops into the second bedroom. She closes her bedroom door and hops over to her bed. She sits down on her bed and drops her crutch onto the floor. She slides far onto her bed and put her right leg up onto the bean bag set on her bed. She then lays back and closes her eyes. Back at Degrassi the bell to head to sixth hour has now ringing and Alex has gather her history textbook and notebook up and is now walk to class. When Alex walks into the classroom she takes a set by Hazel, Ellie, Macro, Jimmy and Craig. She has just set down when the history teacher Mr. Brookheart comes over to her.

Mr. Brookheart: Alex can you take Paige her homework, she not going to be in school the rest of this week?
Alex: Sure, Mr. Brookheart.

Mr. Brookheart hands Alex a large pile of homework that including Paige’s Chemistry, Math, Media Immersion, History and French homework. Mr. Brookheart then walks up to the front of the classroom.

Mr. Brookheart: Ok, class we are going to have a pop quiz over the reading from last night. So put you textbooks and notebooks away.

The students putting their things away and the teacher passes the quiz out. When the quizzes are all past out, Alex start taking the quiz and Alex is glad she read the four through five and the first half of chapter six at the lunch. The quiz takes the whole hour. When the bell rings Alex, Jimmy, Craig, Hazel, Macro and Ellie head they quizzes into the Teacher and then heads to the last class of the day, which is chemistry. A hour and twenty minutes later Mrs. Michalchuk hears someone knocking on the front door, she stands up for the chairs she is setting in and walks out of the office, which is the room on the right-hand side as you come through the front door. Mrs. Michalchuk then walks to the front door and looks out the window to see Hazel and Alex standing on the porch. She opens the door and smiles at Paige friends and then steps back to let them come into the house.

Mrs. Michalchuk : I guess that you want to see Paige?
Hazel: Yeah
Alex: And I have her homework for the week.
Mrs. Michalchuk: She upstairs in her bedroom, go on up.

Alex and Hazel walk up the stairs and to Paige’s bedroom to find the door close, so Hazel knocks on the door.

Paige: ( Hoarse) Who is it and what do you want?
Alex: Paige it me and Hazel is here with me, we also bring your homework.
Paige: Come in

Hazel opens Paige’s bedroom door then she and Alex walk into Paige’ bedroom. Paige set up and Hazel takes a set on the end of Paige bed. Alex walks around to the left side of Paige bed and set down and she set Paige homework next to her. Paige leans towards Alex and hugs her and Alex hug Paige back. Hazel is looking at Paige and is shock at what she is seeing. She has never saw Paige so down in the dump before.

Hazel: Paige, I have been so worry about you, why have you not return my calls?
Paige: When I get home Friday my mom made me so soup and then I went to bed and took a nap. When I wake up for my nap, I had lost my voice and I have just starts to get my voice back yesterday evening.
Hazel: Oh, So what did you do to your right leg Paige?
Paige: I have completely torn my ACL, PCL, MCL and LCL and my Meniscus in my knee. I also bruised my shin. That I also have a torn my Achilles tendon and have a stress fracture in my right ankle.
Alex: How did the appointment with the specialist Dr. Bangs, go today?
Paige: He says I have to have surgeries my knee and my Achilles tendon on Monday at seven o’clock in the morning, can you cover my shifts at the theater the rest of this week and next week Lexi?
Alex: Sure Paige.
Paige: And Hazel will you bring me next weeks homework?
Hazel: Did Dr. Bangs say how long you have to set out of sprit squads?
Paige: I will be side line for the rest of the season. I have to be on crutch for six weeks and then have physical therapy.
Hazel: I am so sorry, will you be able to take part in spirit squads next year in college?
Paige: Yeah, If any of the coach chose me for they team now.
Hazel: I have to go home now, Paige.
Paige: Ok, Thanks for stop by and see me.
Hazel: I stop by again on Friday.
Paige: Ok

Alex and Paige watch Hazel walking out Paige room and close the door behind her. Paige then picks up the pile of homework and starts going through it.

Chapter Twenty-six
It is Monday morning at five o’clock and Mrs. Michalchuk is walking down the hall to her daughter bedroom door. When Mrs. Michalchuk gets to her daughters’ bedroom door, she knocks hoping that she is already up but gets no answers from Paige. After knocking three more times and still getting no answers, she opens up Paige’s door. Mrs. Michalchuk flips the light switch to the on positions next to the door and turn the over head light on. Paige rolls over in her bed and covers her face with her white bedspread. Mrs. Michalchuk walks over to Paige’s bed that in the center of the room and up again the full length wall on the left-hand side of the room when you come through Paige’s bedroom door. She takes a set on the edge of her daughters’ bed and pulls the cover down. Paige gives her mom an evil look, as she set up in her bed.

Mrs. Michalchuk: Paigey you need to get up and get dress, I wash your blue sweatshirt and black workout pants and there are setting on your desk.
Paige: I don’t want to have the surgery mom?
Mrs. Michalchuk: You have to Paigey and besides Alex’s is meeting Dylan, Your dad and I and you at the hospital, so she can be by your side.
Paige: Ok, I get up and get ready mom.

Mrs. Michalchuk stands up and walks out of her daughter bedroom and close the door behind her. Paige slow slides to the edge of her bed and stands up putting all her weight on her good left leg. She grabs her crutch and then hops over to her desk. She changing into a clean pair of underwear and bra then she puts on the black workout pants. She then pulls a black tank top on and pulls her sweatshirt over the tank top. She then grabs her crutch and hops over to her door. She hops out of her bedroom and down the hallway to the staircase. Dylan walks up behind Paige and walks behind her as she hops downstairs. When Dylan and Paige get downstairs their mom and dad walks over to them and then all four of them head outside to the min van. Paige gets into the passenger’s seat, Dylan and Mr. Michalchuk get into the back of the van as Mrs. Michalchuk gets into the drive’s seat. On the way to the hospital Paige looks out of the window and looks at the house they pass them, wish that the day would go by fast. When Mrs. Michalchuk pulls into the parking lot of St. Mary hospital and Paige sees Alex wait for them besides the in patient doors. Mrs. Michalchuk pulls up in front of the in patients doors and puts the car into park. Paige opens her door. Dylan opens the van slide door and gets out. He grabs Paige crutches and walks then over to her. Paige takes the crutches from her brother then slides out of the van. Alex walks over to Paige, Dylan and Mr. Michalchuk, as Mrs. Michalchuk goes to park the van. The four of them wait for Mrs. Michalchuk to come back from parking the van. She walks over to them to three minutes later. Then the five of them walk into the hospital together and over to the check in counter. The nurse at the check in desk looks up at the five of them.

Nurse Tim: Can I help you?
Mrs. Michalchuk: Yeah I am here to check my daughter Paige Michalchuk in for knee and Ankle surgery at seven o’clock.
Nurse Time: (Types Paige’s name into the computer.) Yes for seven o’clock with Dr. Bangs right?
Mrs. Michalchuk: Yes
Nurse Tim: I need you to fill out some paperwork, why you are doing that Nurse Hope we take paige up to room number 217 and get her settle into the room and once you finish the paperwork the rest of you can come up and wait with Paige.
Paige: Can Alex come up with me?
Nurse Tim: Sure


Nurse Hope push a wheelchair over to Paige and she takes a set. Paige then hands Alex her cruthers then the nurse push Paige to the elevator and Alex walk by Paige holding her right hand. The elevator ride up to the second floor take two minutes, when the doors open up the nurse pushes’ Paige down the hallway and to room 217. Once into the room Alex helps Paige out of the wheelchair and up onto the bed as nurse Hope goes and gets Paige a blue hospital gown. Paige and Alex look into eachother eyes and Alex cans scenes how scary Paige is. Alex hugs Paige and Paige lays her head on Alex left shoulder.

Alex: Everything will be ok Paigey!
Paige: How do you know everything will be ok?
Alex: Because he the best doctor in town and I should know remember when I come into school on crutches my tenth grade year and say that I had to have emergency surgery on my knee because I tip down the stairs and blow out my knee?
Paige: Yeah, is he the doctor that did your surgery?
Alex: Yeah and I did not tip down the stairs Chad get my knee and blow it out.
Paige: I figure that what happen.

Paige and Alex stop hugging and Paige lays back on the bed then close her eyes. Alex takes a set on the couch at the sometime the nurse comes back into the room. The nurse hands Paige the hospital gown then walks out of the room closed the door behind her. Paige set up and change into the gown then lays back down on the bed. Alex covers’ Paige with a blanket then goes and opens the door back up just as Dylan and Mr. and Mrs. Michalchuk walks towards the door. The four of them walk back into Paige room and take set around her bed. Paige looks at her mom and Mrs. Michalchuk takes her daughter left hand.

Mr. Michalchuk: A nurse is going to be in her in a few minutes to take your blood pressure and to make sure you do not have a fever. She also going to take your knee brace and walking boot off then shave your leg for surgery.
Paige: Ok
Alex: Macro, Spinner, Jimmy and Hazel are going to swing by after school to visit you and see how you are doing Paige.
Paige: At lest I have something to look forward to this afternoon.

Just then there is a knock on the door frame to Paige hospital room and nurse Hope walks back into the room carry blood pressure monitor, Thermometer and a disposable razor. The nurse walks over to the bed and set the blood pressure’s monitor and razor and to the bedside table. She then puts the ear thermometer into Paige’s left ear. Thirty seconds later it beeps and the nurse takes out of Paige ear.

Nurse Hope: You do not have a fever, I am going to take your blood pressure now.
Paige: Ok

After the nurse takes Paige blood pressure and finds it normal she moves on to shave Paige right leg. Which takes about five minutes. She had just finish shave Paige leg when the doctor walks into the room.

Dr. Bangs: It time to take you back to surgery now Paige.
Paige: Ok.

The nurse pushes help Paige on to a stretcher and then pushes Paige out of the room and into the OR. Alex and Dylan both open up the book bags. Dylan takes out her English comp 151homework and Alex takes out the novel she reading in English class. Mr and Mrs. Michalchuk take out they lab top and check they email.
