*Take place out the end of summer going into the five seasons. She dating Jay and Alex is Dating Sean who did not leave town after the shooting. Manny is already living at the nelson/ Simpson house.

Emma stumbles through her basement bedroom window at 5:30am on a Monday morning, after being out drinking and party with Jay, Sean and Alex all night. She was relieved to see that Manny is sound asleep. Emma stumbles into her bathroom and into the shower. The whole time she was in the shower she was thinking she was going to feel like hell when it time to leave for school that morning, she stumbles out of the shower and throws on her night shirt and then stumble out to her bed and lays down and goes to sleep. Emma has only been sleeping for an hour when Manny alarm clock start buzzes in her ear. Emma’s picks up the alarm clock and throws it across the room.

Manny: Em, why did you do that for?
Emma: Because it was really loud and my head is killing me, Manny.
Manny: So it’s my alarm clock, you had no right to throw it across the room.
Emma: I don’t care!
Manny: If you break my alarm clock, you are buying me a new one!
Emma: No, I will not.

Emma rolls back over and starts to fall back to sleep, but get waking up again when Manny walks over to her bed and start shakes her. Emma rolls back over and shoots Manny an evil look.

Emma: Manny’s I am trying to sleep!
Manny: Em, School starts back up today. It’s our first day as Junior.
Emma: I don’t care, I feel awful Manny.
Manny: That what you get for stays out partying all night Em, now get up!
Emma: Fine, I meet you upstairs.
Manny: Ok.

Manny grabs her book bag and run upstairs into the kitchen. She put her book bag on the back of the chair and sit down at the kitchen table for breakfast. Meanwhile Emma gets out of bed and throws on a pair of jeans that has holes in both knees. Emma also throws on a black tank top, she then goes into the bathroom to comb her hair and brush her tooth. After she finishes getting ready, she picks her book bag up and goes upstairs. She walks into the kitchen and sees Manny has already left.

Spike: Em, you do not have time for breakfast, because your run so late. Manny left without you. She said she would see you at school.
Emma: Whatever
Spike: Em, honey is everything all right?
Emma: I guess, I am tired is all. I did not sleep good last night.

Emma walks out the front door and walk over to Jay who is waiting by his car for her. Jay opens the Passengers’ door for Emma. She kisses Jay on the lips then gets into his car and bulk her seatbelt. Jay goes around to the driver side and gets into the car. Jay puts his seatbelt on, he then starts the car and puts the car into driver and start towards Degrassi.

On the ride to school Emma lays her seat back and close her eyes trying to block out how nauseous she is. Jay looks over at Emma after he pulls his car into a parking space then turn it off. Jays get out of the car and walk over to Emma sides and open the car door up for her. He also open the back door up and get both his and her book bag off the back seat. Emma takes her book bag from Jay. He puts his right arm around Emma waists and they walk into the school. Once inside they go and pick up they class schedules and they locker numbers.

Jay: Cool all our classes are together and our lockers are next to eachother Em!
Emma: Yeah
Jay: Are you all right Em?
Emma: I have a hang over is all, gag, other then that I am fine.
Jay: But you did not drink that much Em.
Emma: I feel like I drink a lot Jay.
Jay: No, more then you normally do, baby.

Emma put her hand over her mouth and runs into the near girls restroom and into the first stall and start throwing up. She comes out of the bathroom five minutes later and Jay, Sean and Alex are waiting for her outside the restroom door.

Jay: Feel better now?
Emma: A little, but I do not feel like going to class let skip.
Jay: Sure, baby .Where do you want to go?
Emma: Lets go hang out at the ravine
Jay: Ok., want to come Sean and Lexi?
Sean and Alex: Sure.

Jay and Emma head out to Jay car and Alex and Sean goes out to Sean car and then head to the ravine.

Emma walks through the front door of the Nelson/ Simpson household at four o’clock that evening and sees both Spike and Snake setting on the couch wait for her. Emma throws her book bag on the floor by the door.

Spike: Emma, the school called you did not show up for any of your classes today and it’s the only first day of the school year.
Emma: I went and picked up my class schedules, then left and went to the ravine and hang out and I sleep in Jay’s car, till it was time to come home.
Snake: You can’t just skip school Emma.
Emma: I can if I want to, you are not my dad so you cannot tell me what to do!
Spike: I did not hear you come in last night Em.
Emma: I come home last night, but you were already asleep, so I was really quiet that way I would not wake you up.
Spike: Em, you looked awful this morning, I know you had a hang over.
Emma: Whatever

Emma runs out of the room and down the staircase to her and Manny’s basement bedroom and slams the down shut. Only to see Manny give her an evil look.

Manny: Em, ever since the school shooting and you starts to date Jay’s you have been going out and drinking every night and coming home at five in the morning. Now you skip the first day of school.
Emma: I already get this talk from Spike and Snake I do not need it from you.
Manny: Then way was you not at school.
Emma: I was not feeling good so Jay drive me to the ravine and I sleep in the backseat of his car, while Sean, Jay and Alex hang out and talk.
Manny: Yeah right Em.
Emma: God Manny’s you are not my mom, stops tell me what to do!

With that Emma grabs her purse and head out of her bedroom window and walks to Jay houses.

It starts to rain as soon as Emma starting to walk across town to Jays houses. She gets to Jay house fifteen minutes later and knocks on the front door. His six and half year old sister cracks the door and look at Emma.

Emma: Is Jay here Jaime?
Jaime: No, he went to pick his pay check up and has not come home yet.
Emma: Can I come in and wait for him?
Jaime: No
Emma: Your mom would not care if you let me into the house, Jaime’s I am not a stranger.

With that Jaime close the door in Emma face. She set down on the steps and waits for Jay to get home. She has been setting there for two hours in the pouring rain, when Jay’s pulls his car into the drive way and park his car. He gets out of the car and walks over to Emma.

Jay: How long have you been setting on the steps in the pouring rain Em?
Emma: For two hours, your sister would not let me in.
Jay: She is still mad that I am no longer dating Alex. Em, you are shivering are you cold?
Emma: Yeah
Jay: Let get you inside and into a pair of dry clothing.

Jay unlocks the door and lets Emma go inside first, he then comes into the house after her. He closes the door and relock it. Then Jay and Emma head upstairs to Jay’s bedroom. He hands Emma a pair of black sweat pants and a grey T-Shirt. Jay then walks out of the room and closes the door behind him so Emma, can changes. Once she has changes Emma walks downstairs and joins Jay who is sit on the couch watch tv.

Jaime walks over to Jay and Emma with her hands on her hips. She Shoots Jay’s a evil look. Jay’s look at his sister then over at Emma who is rested her head on his shoulder and is still shivering.

Jay: Sis, what do you want?
Jamie: What take you so long to get home?
Jay: I am sorry about that Jamie, But my boss had to run out and go pick up his wife and baby daughter and bring them home from the hospital and he asked me to stay at the shop and finish the car he was work on.
Jamie: But you know I was here by myself, seeing that mom is at work Jay.
Jay: I know that, But I could not say no. The bills are due next week and mom needs the money I earn to pay them.
Jamie: I was scare!
Jay: You should have let Emma come into the house then. She would have kept you company.
Jamie: I miss Alex, why did Alex and you break up?
Jay: Because we grow apart and Alex and Sean start going out, and I fall in love with Emma.

Just then there was a knock on the front door Emma gets off the couch and walks over to the door and open it up and let Sean and Alex into the house. Emma sees that Alex is carrying a huge take out bags of KFC, and Sean was carrying five pops in a holder. Jamie sees Alex and runs over and gives her a hug, Alex hugs her back with her free arm.

Sean: Jaime can you go get five plates and forks and spoons for us and bring them over to the coffee table.
Jaime: Sure

Jamie runs into the kitchen and gets the plates, spoons and forks. She then brings them over to the coffee table and give one of each to Jay, Emma, Sean, Alex and herself. Sean heads the pops out, as Alex’s puts the foods onto everyone plate. After dinner Emma takes the dirty plates and forks and spoons into the kitchen and puts them into the dishwasher, she then goes back into the living room and they play a game of Jr. Clue with Jamie, till its time for her to get ready for bed.

Emma: Sean can you give me a ride home?
Sean: sure

Jays, pulls Emma over to him and hugs and kiss her on the lips. Emma kisses him back and then waves good bye to Jay and Jaime and walks out to Sean’s car with Alex and Sean. When Sean pulls his car up to the sidewalk in front of Emma houses and stops the car, Emma gets out and looks at Sean and Alex.

Emma: Thanks for the ride home Sean!
Sean: No big Deal, Em. I’ll see you at school tomorrow.
Alex: Me to.
Emma: Yeah, see you to tomorrow. Good night.

Emma head into the house through the front door and is happy to see that Spike, Snake and Jack has already gone to bed for the night. She goes downstairs to her bedroom and goes right over to her bed and gets under the covers.

Emma had only get under her covers and close her eyes when Manny comes run out of the bathroom and jump onto her bed. Which cause her bed to bounce several times. Emma set up and rolls her eyes at Manny, which only make Manny bounce some more.

Emma: Manny, I am trying to go to sleep I’m exhaust. What do you want?
Manny: You never guess what happened today at spirit squad practice?
Emma: Let me guess something happed to Paige?
Manny: Yeah, can you guess what?
Emma: No, just tell me so I can go to bed.
Manny: She was showing me a tumble pass that she wants me to add into the choreographer of the routine. Paige told me the tumble pass that she was going do was three back handsprings to a double layout into a punch front to a layout step-out. Paige starts the pass, but only got to the punch front and her left leg stay straight and when she went to punch out to start the layout step-out her left knee give out on her.
Emma: That awful, is she ok?
Manny: No, Paige called me an hour ago, when she got home form the ER, she has blown out her left knee. She can’t cheer for the rest of the year. She made me acting head of spirit squads.
Emma: Congratulate on be made the acting head of spirit squads. We should get Paige card to say I hope you get well soon, don’t you think?
Manny: Yeah you are right, being injury is no funny at all.
Emma: We can go pick one up before school tomorrow.
Manny: Better yet lets make Paige one on the computer, right now.
Emma: Ok.

Both girls jump out off Emma bed and run over to the computer and get to work. An hour later Emma and Manny had finishes making the card and have both sign it, wish her a speedy recover. Emma then looks down at the outfit she is wear and remembers she still has on the black sweat pants and a grey T-shirt that Jay’s given her to wear because her Jean and shirt were soaking wet from the rain. She then remembers that she left her clothing at Jay. Emma goes over to her dresser and gets out a pair of PJ bottom and a nightshirt out and changes into them. She then crawls back into bed and pull the covers up again, this time realizes how cold she has been since Jay let her into his house and out of the rain. Manny looks over at Emma and sees she has got back into bed.

Manny: Em, are you going to sleep now?
Emma: Yeah Manny, I am exhaust and need to get some sleep.
Manny: Is everything all right Em, you been exhausted for the past three weeks now?
Emma: I think I might be coming down with something, but I am not sure.
Manny: I will let you get some sleep then.
Emma: Thanks you Manny, I’ll see you in the morning. Goodnight.
Manny: Yeah, Goodnight.

With that Manny changes into her PJ and gets into bed to and pulls the covers up and falls asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

The next morning Emma and Manny get wakening up by two-year-old Jack. Who is bounce on each of their beds till the girls wakes up and looks up at him. He then takes hold of one of Manny hands and one of Emma hands and start to pull them out of bed.

Emma: Jack’s what do you want?
Jack: Upstairs
Manny: Yeah, Emma and I will be up there once we are ready for school.
Jack: Now, momie got news!
Emma: Ok, Jack.

Emma and Manny get out of bed and Emma picks Jack up. Then the three of them head upstairs to the kitchen and takes a set at the table. Spike, take Jack from Emma and puts him into his Booster Seat at the sometime Snake walks into the kitchen and take a sat at the table.

Emma: Mom Jack says you have some news?
Spike: Actually Snake and I have some news to tell the two of you.
Manny: What is it?
Snake: You tell them honey.
Spike: I am pregnant again.
Emma: How far along are you Mom?
Spike: I am fifteen weeks, my due date is sometime during the last week of February.
Manny: I am happy for you and Snake.
Emma: I am to mom. Can I be excused from the table to get ready for school?
Spike: You have not touches your breakfast!
Emma: I don’t have an appetite this morning.
Spike: Em, you not getting sick are you?
Emma: I’m not sure.

Spike, walks over to Emma and feels her forehead, but can’t tell if she has a fever so she kisses Emma’s forehead.

Spike: You do not have a fever Em, But I want you to stay home from school today and rest.
Emma: Ok, Mom.
Manny: Em, that so not like you. Normal you would fight with Spike to let you go to school even if you are sick as a dog and have a fever of 39.9 C (103.9 degrees Fahrenheit).
Emma: I just don’t feel like fight with my mom about stay home Manny.

With that Emma stands up and goes back downstairs to her and Manny’s basement bedroom and takes off her night shirt. She then puts on a long sleeve t-shirt . Manny stays in the kitchen and eats a bowl of oatmeal. Meanwhile downstairs Emma is setting on her bed with her knees up against her chest and is crying. By the time Manny comes downstairs to get ready for school Emma has crawl under the cover so Manny would not see that she has been crying again. Emma does not come out from under the covers until Manny has left for school, but did not get out of bed too around 2:30 P.M. Emma gets up and goes into the basement bathroom and closes the door, she then put the lid to the toilet seat down and takes a set on the toilet seat lid. She pulls open her drawer that under the bathroom sink and gets out a razor blade that she keeps in the drawer. Emma pulls up the sleeve to her shirt and runs the razor blade across her left wrist. As she is cutting her wrist, she thinks about what has happen since the day that Rick pointing the gun at her. Since then she has got pregnant twice by Jay and has had two miscarriages. Then this morning she found out her mom was going to have another baby and what worst is she has missed her own period last months and has not started yet this month and her periods’ always starts on the first day of the month . Emma thinks to herself If I am pregnant again I hope I do not have another miscarriage, because I do not think I can handle another one. By now Emma has cut her wrist in several spots, just then she hears the front door to the house open and then she hears the door slams shut. Emma then hears someone opening the door to the basement.

Emma: Who there?
Manny: It just me Emma, can you hurry up in the bathroom I really need to use it?
Emma: You should be at spirit squad practice you the acting head of the squad right now?
Manny: Em, it 4:30 practice ended at 4:15 now hurry up!

Emma grabs a hand fill of toilet paper then wrap the toilet paper around the spots on her wrist that she has cut. She then puts the razor blade back into her drawer and closes it up.

Manny is pacing around the room hold her stomach. Wait for Emma to get out of the bathroom and thinking to herself. I really should have not drink the two bottles of apple juice before spirit squad practice. But that was the only juice that was not sale out in the juice machine and I did not have time to walk across the school to the other juice machine before practice started.

Manny: Em, come on. I really need the bathroom!
Emma: I am going to be a while Manny, I would go use the bathroom on the second floor.
Manny: Fine

Manny runs up the basement stares and through the kitchen, living then up the stairs to the second floor. She is just about to walk into the upstair bathroom when Spike cuts her off and heads into the bathroom.

Manny: Spike I need the bathroom!
Spike: Manny’s you have a bathroom in the basement!
Manny: Emma is using the basement bathroom.
Spike: You are going to have to wait then, because my morning sickness is acting up really bad right now.
Manny: I can’t, spike!
Spike: Retch
Manny: Fine I’ll go back downstairs to the basement.

Manny walks downstairs and back to the door to the basement. As Manny start to walk down the basement steps she lets a very juice sound fart. Please let that just be gas please. She makes it to the bottom of the stairs when she starts to taste apple juice coming back up. She runs towards the bathroom only to find Emma still use it. She runs over to the trash can by the desk and kneels down in front of the trash can and starts throwing up. At the sometime that she is throwing up, she let out another juice sounding fart, but this time she knows that it is not gas. Meanwhile, Emma has been in the bathroom taking a pregnancy test, she had bought three the first time because it was buy two get one free. She had hided it at the bottom of her drawer that under the sink. When Emma hears Manny getting sick. Emma hides the pregnancy test, in the back pocket of her PJ bottom and throws the pregnancy test box back into her drawer and closes the drawer. She open the bathroom door and walk out. Manny stands up and takes the trash can into the bathroom with her and closes the bath down. She set the trash can, down long enough to pull her pants and underwear down and to take a set on the toilet.

Emma: Manny’s are you Ok?

It has been several minutes since Emma asks Manny if she was ok and Manny still has not answers’ Emma back. Emma walks up to the bathroom door and knocks. She can hear Manny retching and she also hears a gaging sound coming from the bathroom. She wonders if Manny ate the school hot lunch or drink Apple juice which she is allergic to?

Emma: Manny, are you ok, because you do not sound ok?
Manny: Retch (Then takes a deep breath.) No, I should not eat the school hot lunch or drink these two twenty oz bottle of apple juice before (retch), spirited squad practices.
Emma: Can I get you anything Manny?
Manny: I need a clean pair of underwear and can you grab my nightshirt and my towel.
Emma: Sure

Emma goes over to Manny dressers and grabs a pair of underwear. She then grabs Manny nightshirts off her bed and grabs a clean towel. She then takes the underwear, nightshirt and towel into Manny and takes the dirty cloth off the bathroom floor. She then walks over to the washing machine and turn it on and fills it up with water and put the dirty underwear and pants inside. She puts some soap into the washing machine and lets the cloth soak. She then takes the pregnancy test out of her PJ back pocket and looks at it. She goes and lays down on her bed and set the pregnancy test on the night stand. She puts her hands on her stomach and closes her eyes. Meanwhile, Manny has just got into the shower and is crying because she feels horrible. Emma is listening for any sounds that could mean that Manny needs help. It has been an hour and Manny still has not come out of the bathroom yet. The shower has now been turned off for a half hour, so why has Manny not come out of the bathroom yet? Emma was just about to get up and check on her friend, when Manny walks out of the bathroom and gets into her bed and pulls the cover up.

Emma: Manny, do you need anything?
Manny: No, But tell Spike I am not up to having dinner tonight.
Emma: Ok Manny, I will let her know.
Manny: Are you feeling any better then you were last night and this morning Em?
Emma: I am not as tired .
Manny: Em, is that your pregnancy test that is on the night stand that say positive?
Emma: Yes, but do not say anything to anyone yet. Because I need to keep my pregnancy a secret, till I have made it pasted the fourth month. I already had two miscarries over the summer.
Manny: I am so sorry I did not know!
Emma: No, one beside Jay knows about them.
Manny: Em, can you go grab a trash can for me I think that I am going to be sick again.

Emma jumps out of bed and runs into the bathroom. She grabs the trash can that suppose to be by Manny desk and picks it up and runs it over to Manny. She gets over to Manny just in time, Emma holds the trash can for Manny as she gets sick to her stomach.

About twenty minutes after Manny stops getting sick, its time to go upstairs for dinner. Spike, has yells down the stairs at Manny and Emma five times now, but neither of them has got out of bed to head upstairs for dinner. Just when they thought, Spike had give up on getting them to come up for dinner Spike walks down the basement steps and up to Manny bed. Manny rolls over in bed and put her hand over her mouth, because the vegetable’s stir-fry smell that is come down the stair is making her sick. She stands up and runs into the bathroom, but only makes it to the bathroom sink, so she bent over the sink and started throwing up. Spike, looks over at Manny throwing up into the bathroom sink. She then walks over and takes a set on the edge of Emma and feels her daughter forehead, since Emma has her eyes close and her hands are rest on her stomach.

Spike: Em, Honey you are started to feel warm, I am going to go get the thermometer out of Manny and your bathroom medicine cabinet, so I can check to see if you have a fever.

Spike, walks into the bathroom and feels Manny’s forehead since see now is sitting on the floor next to the toilet and is resting her head against the glass shower doors and she is looking as white as a ghosted. She gets the thermometer of the bathroom cabinet and has Manny put it in her mouth first, because she is more worried about Manny at that moment. As Spike is waiting for the thermometer to beep, she cleans the bathroom sink up. When the thermometer starts beeping Manny takes it out of her mouth and hands it to Spike, who looks at the thermometer and sees that it says 37.1 C (98.9 degrees Fahrenheit). She then clean the thermometer and put it back into it case and slides the thermometer into her jean pocket. Spike help Manny up and back into her bed. She then takes a seat on the edge of Emma bed and pulls the thermometer out of her jean pocket. Spike, then take the thermometer out of it case. Emma takes the thermometer from her mom and puts the thermometer into her mouth. At the sometime she is thinking I am not sick, just pregnant. I am probably warm from running around helping Manny out. Why Emma is thinking, Spike is talking to Manny.

Spike: Manny, you don’t have a fever so tell me, did you drink apple juice again?
Manny: Yeah two twenty- oz bottles, before SS practice and I also ate the school hot lunch.
Spike: Manny, you know you allergic to apple juice why did you drink it?
Manny: Because it was all that was left in the juice machine outside the gym and I did not have time to run across the school to the other juice machine.

The thermometer beeps and Emma, takes it out of her mouth and heads the thermometer to her mom. Spike, looks at the thermometer, at the sometime Spike and Manny keep talking to eachother.

Spike: You could have filled up your water bottle using the drinking fountain!
Manny: I forget my water bottle at home and I was dying of thirsty. So I bought the Apple juice and I drink then down so fast I do not even taste it.
Spike: You don’t have a fever Em, but you do look flush and your stomach seems to be bothering you because you keep holding it?

Spike, then see the pregnancy test on Emma nightstand and has an idea why Emma been acting so out of shorts lately. Emma and Manny see that Spike notice the pregnancy test. Emma looks up at her mom and she has tears run down her face.

Emma: Mom, I am five weeks and one day pregnant with Jay’s baby, but do not tell Snake yet please I want to want to I make it past the fourth month, because I had two miscarried over the summer.
Spike: Em, you should have told me, If you carry this baby to term, it will have an aunt or uncle the same ages.
Emma: I know that is so weird.
Spike: Come on you two upstairs for dinner now.
Manny: I did not think I can eat anything Spike, the smell alone is making me have to throw up?
Spike: Ok, you can miss dinner tonight but do try and drink some water.
Manny: Ok, Spike.
Spike: Em, you are come upstairs for dinner, you have to think about your baby health now two.
Emma: Ok, I try to eat, but my stomach is upset.
Spike: So mine, but we still have to eat.

Emma and Spike heads upstairs to the kitchen and set down and have dinner with Snake. Manny close her eyes and falls to sleep.

It has been several weeks now Since Manny and Spike find out that she is pregnant with Jay’s baby. Emma is setting in media immersion class trying to concentration on taking her first eleven-grade media immersion test of the year. I can’t believe that Mr. Simpson is give a test four weeks into the school year. But no matter how hard she tries she is not able to concentration, because she is really nausea. God I going to be sick to my stomach, with that she raises her hand to get her step-father attention. Mr. Simpson looks up from his desk to see Emma hand is in the air.

Mr. Simpson: Emma, what do you need?
Emma: I need to use, gags, the restroom.
Mr. Simpson: Have you finish your test yet?
Emma: No, but I am not feeling good, gags, I think I am going to be sick!
Mr. Simpson: You can go to the restroom then.

Emma stands up and runs out of the room and down the hallway to the near girl’s restroom. She gets into the restroom to see there is a line. She stands behind the last person in line and tires to wait her turn but is not having any luck. The feeling that she going to throw up is getting worse. When the first stall door opens up Emma’s runs into the stall cut off Alex Nunez, who was the next person in line.

Alex: Em, I was next!
Emma: Retching
Alex: Em, are you ok?
Emma: Retching

Alex: Heather, shut up can’t you hear she is sick. Just use the next stall that open up.

Heather push Alex out of the way when the next stall opens up. At the sometime Emma open up the door of the stall she is in and walks out holding her stomach. Alex walks over to Emma and taps her on the shoulder. Emma turns around and looks at her and puts her hand back over her mouth. She then runs into the stall that no one uses, because the door does not lock. She starts throwing up again and Alex walks up behind her and pulls Emma’s ponytail back so it is not hanging in her face. After fifteen minutes Emma set down on the floor and leans up against the restroom wall. She then closes her eyes and Alex’s kneels down across from Emma and looks at her.

Alex: Do you want me to get the nurse Em?
Emma: ( She keeps her eyes closes.) No, I am fine now. I think the milk that I put into my cereal this morning was bad.
Alex: Yeah right Em, your vomit did not have a bad milk smell!
Emma: Then maybe I am coming down with the stomach flu, it is going around the school right now!
Alex: It does not have the flu smell either, you are pregnant with Jay’s baby?
Emma: Yeah, but do not say anything yet, I am not told anyone to I am in my fifth month because I had two miscarriages over the summer. One at six and half week and one at three months. So I want to be on the safe side and make sure I make it through the first trimester.
Alex: I won’t tell anyone, but have you told Jay yet?
Emma: Yeah, I have told Jay, I need to go get my book bag and purse out of Mr. Simpson room and go to Mrs. Kawn class.
Alex: All right, I am going to use the restroom. Then I am going to get my book bag out of Mrs. Kawn class and go to Math class.

Emma stands up and walks out of the restroom and Alex walks into the stall next to the one Emma was using and locks the door behind her. She then unzips her jean and pulls then down and pulls her right leg out of the pant leg. She then starts looking at her very bruise leg and know there is no way she can put her gym short on for three hour gym class. She pulls her pants back up and her right knee slides out of place, at the sometime makes a loud popping sound. She falls up against the stall wall and starts crying. Meanwhile, Emma has just walk back into the M.I. lab and over to the chair that she was set in and picks her book bag and purse up off the floor. She was walking towards the door to head to English when Mr. Simpson walks up to her and steps in front of the door. He then put his right hand on his step-daughter forehead.

Mr. Simpson: You are running a little warm Em, I think you should go see the nurse, since you spent the last half hour in the restroom!
Emma: I am fine, Now my breakfast, did not set right in my stomach is all.
Mr. Simpson: Go see the school nurse
Emma: Ok, I go see the nurse Snake.

Mr. Simpson step back from the door and lets Emma out of the room. Emma starts walking toward the nurse station, but turn down the first hallway and head into the second classroom on the left which is Mrs. Kawn classroom. Mrs. Kawn looks up from her desk when Emma walks into the classroom and takes a seat in the chair by the door.

Mrs. Kawn: Emma Nelson’s you are late, you know I hate student coming into my class late!
Emma: Sorry, I was using the restroom and there was a long line.
Mrs. Kawn: Next time please came to class and let me know that you need to use the restroom and I will give you a pass.
Emma: Ok

Emma looks down at the black book bag by her feet and sees that Alex has not came back to get her book bag yet. Just then the classroom door opens and Alex limps into the room and over to the chair Emma is setting in. Emma’s pick up Alex’s book bag up and hands it to her.

The some day forty minutes later and Emma is setting in English class. She looks up at the wall clock for the fifth time. Jay and Sean’s keeps look over at Emma and give her a worry look, because for the whole class she has been holding her stomach and keeps looking up at the wall clock. Plus the fact she spent the last half hour of first hour in the restroom and has made two trips to the restroom doing this class.

Jay: Sweetie, Is everything ok because you are looking a little flush and keep holding your stomach.
Emma: I am fine.
Jay: You do not seem ok.

Emma writes down on a piece of paper, I have morning sickness is all. It is normal, when you are pregnant. Don’t let anyone else see this note. Jay looks at the note and then puts the note in his pocket, before anyone else was able to see what the note said. Sean is still looking at Emma and he knows that something is not right with her, because she never looks at the wall clock ever other minute before. She also never sets in class holding her stomach or ask to go to use the restroom in back to back classes or twice in one hour before. Just then the bell for second hour to end rings and the class start gathering up their English things up and heads to their three hour classes. For Jay, Sean, Manny, Emma along with Alex’s they next class is gym. Alex meets Sean outside Mrs. Kawn classroom door and Jay, Sean, Emma, Alex and Manny head to gym class together. When they got to the gym both of Jay and Sean’s go into the boys locker room. Manny walks into the girls locker room, but both Alex and Emma heads into the gym. The two girls walk over to the stands and takes a set in the fourth rows of the stands. Emma looks over at Alex and sees that she has put her right legs up on the bench in front of them. She also notices that Alex right pant leg is really tight because her knee is very swell.

Emma: Lexi, If you lay down on the bench and rest your right leg on the next bench up, it might help the swollen go down!
Alex: Thanks, I will try that.

Alex lays down and put her right leg onto fifth bench and closes her eyes to try to block out how much pain she is in. Emma puts her hands back on her stomach. I hope the feeling of having butterflies in my stomachs goes away before lunch or I will not be able to eat anything and everyone will start asking me why I am not eating lunch. Alex lifts her hands up to her face and she wipes tears off, of her face.

Emma: Lexi, do you need anything?
Alex: Could you get me an ice pack out of Mr. Armstrong office?
Emma: Sure

Emma stands up and walks out of the gym and to the door next to the gym and knocks. Mr. Armstrong walks up to the door and open it up.

Mr. Armstrong: What do you need ?
Emma: Can I have an ice pack?
Mr. Armstrong: What for?
Emma: Alex’s asks me to get her one, she hurt her knee and it very swollen and sore.
Mr. Armstrong: Sure you know where they are, I need to go to the gym now.

Emma walks into the office and grabs one of the reusable ice pack out of the min-freezer. She then walks back into the gym and up the stands to the four row and hand Alex’s the ice pack. Alex place the ice pack onto her right knee and lay back down and is trying to keep the tough girl image up and not let anyone see her crying. She then looks at everyone take part in gym class and see Jay is not in the gym. Emma also notices that Jay not in the gym. Sean sees both Alex and Emma looking around the gym. He drops the hockey sticks and runs over to Emma and Alex.

Emma: Sean, where is Jay at?
Sean: Mr. Armstrong sent him to the school nurse?
Alex: Why?
Sean: You been in the gym the whole time Lexi, you do not see him throwing up in the trash can by the boys locker room door?
Alex: No, I had my eyes closes.
Emma: You mean he was lying to me this morning when I ask him if his stomach was bothering him?
Sean: Yeah
Emma: I let him kiss me when he is contagious. Great I can’t afford to get sick!
Mr. Armstrong: Sean you need to come back out here and play floor hockey with the rest of the class.
Sean: Alex and Emma are not playing?
Mr. Armstrong: Alex has a hurt knee and Emma setting out for female reason. Now get back into the game.
Sean: Ok, Mr. Armstrong.

Sean runs back out onto the gym floor and picks up the hockey stick that he drops on the floor and starts playing floor hockey again. Emma puts her hands back onto her stomach and looks down at it. God I hope I do not end up catch the flu from Jay. Alex set up and holds the ice pack on her knee as she moves her right leg back down to the bench that in front of her.

Alex: Em, is everything ok, because you are looking worried about something?
Emma: Just tired and I’m still nausea is all.
Alex: Maybe you should go see the nurse and see if you have a fever Emma?
Emma: No, I’m fine. Lexi, what did you do to your right knee?
Alex: Chad that what.
Emma: What set him off this time?
Alex: I was sleep on the couch because Jamie (Jay Sister) was a sleep in my bedroom. I was babysitting her since Jay, Mrs. Hogart and your were all working last night. Chad came home drunk and wake me up and tell me to get off the couch. When I did not get up, he grabs a crow bar and start hit my right low leg with it. When I still did not get up after I tell him that Jamie was use my room. He starts hit my knee till it was swollen to the size of a watermelon and I had black and blue mark for the crow bar up and down my whole leg. I did not know the injury was this bad last night because I had lost the feeling in my lag a half hour into Chad hit it. But today my right knee keeps pop out of place and making a loud snap and creaking sounds when I put weight on it or when I am walking.
Emma: That not good Lexi, Have you went to the doctor or at lest had the school nurse look at your knee?
Alex: No.
Emma: You should go to the health center after school and have your knee look at.
Alex: I have to go to work as soon as school gets out.
Emma: Ask Paige to cover your shift.
Alex: She had major surgery on her blown out left knee yesterdays.
Emma: Sorry, I forget. I should have remembered seeing that I cover her shift last night. I work after school too, but I will cover for you and tell Merri you were not feeling good so you went to the doctor.
Alex: No, If it still bothering me tomorrow morning I will go have it look at.
Emma: Ok, Lexi

Just then the bell for three hour to end rings and Alex and Emma heads into the hallway to wait for Manny and Sean to come out of the locker room. As they are waiting for their friends, Emma sees Jay walk towards the main doors of the school and runs over to him. When she gets up to him, she feels his forehead.

Jay: Emma, do not even say it, I know that I am running a high fever.
Emma: How high is your fever because you feel like you are on fire?
Jay: I have a fever of 40.5 C (104.9 F) and can’t keep anything down so the school nurse is sending me home sick. Can you get a ride home from Sean?
Emma: Yeah, Jay’s no problem I can get a ride home from Sean. I hope you feel better soon!
Jay: Me too, I will call you tomorrow to see how you are doing.
Emma: Ok, now go home and get lots of rest and call into work sick!
Jay: I will Em, Bye.
Emma: Bye.

Emma walks Jay out to his car in the parking lot and waves bye to Jay as he drives away from the school. She then heads inside the school and met Alex, Sean, Spinner and Manny in the lunch room for their lunch hour.

That day after school gets out Emma and Alex runs through the back down of the Nelson/Simpson household .Then the two of them walk downstairs to Emma and Manny’s basement bedroom. Alex’s stops walk half way down the staircase and grabs onto the rail with her left hand. She then starts rubbing her right knee with her right hand. Emma stops at the bottom of the staircase and notice that Alex has only made it half way down the stairs. Emma walks up the stairs and over to Alex and helps her the rest of the way down the stairs. Emma’s set her book bag onto the floor and Alex carries her gym bag into the bathroom and changing for work. Emma goes over to her desk and gets her work uniform off the back of the chair then changes for work. Alex walks out of the bathroom and set her gym bag on the floor next to Manny bed and takes a set to wait for Emma to finish getting ready. After Emma puts her visor onto her head. She puts her hands on her stomach and looks into the full length mirror that is on the wall. She then turns sideways and looks at her stomach for a few more minutes.

Alex: Em, we do not have forever. We are going to be late for work, if we do not get a move on!
Emma: Does this uniform make mine stomach or both of my hips look fat?
Alex: No, it does not make your stomach look fat, but you do look like you gain some wight in your hips. But you are pregnant, so gaining weighted is normal. How far along are you?
Emma: I just ended the ninth week. It just with the other two pregnancies I never gain weighted, no matter how much I eat and with this one I have already had to buy bigger clothing twice.
Alex: Em, Do you have your drive license?
Emma: Yeah, why?
Alex: Can you drive my car to work, my right knee hurts too much to push the pedals?
Emma: Sure, but we should be going or Merri we yell at us for being late.

Emma grabs her purse off her bed. Then Alex and her heads back upstairs. They head outside to Alex’s car that is parked in the drive way. Alex’s heads Emma her keys and Emma unlock the car. Emma then gets behind the wheel of Alex’s silver Honda Civic. Alex’s throw her gym bag onto the back seat, then get into the passenger seat. Alex and Emma both put their seat belts on, then Emma back out of the drive way and starts towards the mall. When she pulls into the mall and has pulled into a parking space and has put the car into park. Emma’s looks over at Alex and see that she has been crying. Emma turns the car off and heads the keys to Alex. Then the girls open up their car doors. Emma grabs her purse then get out of the car, she gets to the passenger side of the car and Alex’s still has not get out of the car. She has swing around so her legs are outside of the car. Emma walks over to Alex, she then helps Alex up from the car seat. Emma close the car door and Alex hit the lock bottom on the remote control key ring. The two girls start to walk towards the entrance of the mall, but Alex has only made it a few steps when her right knee bulks. She falls forward and falls face first onto the parking lot. Emma kneels down next to Alex and help her turn over onto her back. Once Alex is on her back she sets up and she grabs her right leg. Emma can tell Alex is in a lot of pain, just by the look on her face and the fact she is crying really hard. Alex looks at Emma, at the sometime Emma and Alex’s co-work Ken comes walk over to the two girls smoking a cigarette. When Ken sees Alex set on the ground holding her right leg and that she is crying. He drops his cigarette and he put the cigarette out with his shoe. Then he runs over to Emma and Alex. He kneels down next to Emma.

Alex: (Crying and has tears running down her face.) I am not able too, bent mine knee Em. It feels like my knee cap is in several piece and mine sin and ankle feels the same way Em!
Ken: Do you think you can try to stand up and put some wight on your right leg Alex?
Alex: (Yells) No!
Emma: I am going to take Alex to ER at Toronto General Hospital to have x-rays taken and have a doctor look at her knee. Can you help me get Alex back into her car and let Merri know what going on?
Ken: Yeah.

Ken picks up Alex and she heads her keys back to Emma. Ken then carry Alex’s back over to her car. Emma unlocks the door and opens the passenger’s door up. Emma then runs over to the drive side and get behind the wheel. Ken sets Alex into the seat and then close the door. Alex puts her seat belt on as Emma starts the car up. Ken watch Emma back out of the parking spot and take off. He then heads inside the mall to let Merri know what is going on.

Emma pulls Alex’s car up in front of the ER doors and puts the car into park. She then gets out of the car and heads insides to get some help. She comes back outside to the car a few minutes later with a nurse that is pushing a wheelchair. The nurse helps Alex out of the car and push her into the ER. Emma goes and parks the car then heads inside of the ER. Emma finds Alex setting in the wait area with ice packs on her right knee and leg. Emma set down in the chair that Alex wheelchair is next to. They only have to wait a few minutes for a nurse to come back and pushes Alex back to have an MRI. Emma fellows the nurse pushes Alex, but wait outside of the MRI room. Emma calls Jay on her cellphone as she is wait for Alex to get done have the MRI taken of her right knee and leg. After five rings Jay rolls over in his bed and answers his cellphone.

Jay: Yo what up Em?
Emma: Not much
Jay: Way are you not at work?
Emma: I Take Lexi to the Hospital, as when we walk into work her right knee give out on her and she could not put any weight on her right leg afterwards.
Jay: Em, you did not lift Lexi up on your own?
Emma: No Ken was taking a smoke break and saw what happened and he helped me get Lexi back into her car and when we get here I went inside the ER and got a nurse to help me.
Jay: Gag, good you have to think of the baby health too.
Emma: Are you feeling any better then when you went home from school sick?
Jay: No, I feel worse and I need to get off the phone Em, because, gag I think I am going to be sick Em.
Emma: Ok

With that Jay flips his cellphone closed. He then gets out of bed and runs out of his bedroom to the bathroom. He just gets over to the toilet in time. Back at the hospital Emma has set down in the chair in the hallway and is rest her hands on her stomach as she waits for Alex. An hour later the nurse Pushes Alex out of the room and the three of them head to the ER and the nurse pushes Alex over to one of the bed. The nurse then helps Alex out of the wheelchair and into the bed. The nurse puts the ice packs back onto Alex knee and leg. She then covers Alex up with a blanket, so she will not get cold.

Nurse Flower: A doctor will come back and let you know what the MRI says when they are ready. But for now here some pain medicine to help reduce the swollen and the pain.
Alex: (Take the medicine from the nurse.) Thanks

The nurse walks away and pulls the curtain closed around Emma and Alex on her way. Alex looks over at Emma and knows sees that she looks tired. Emma notices that Alex’s is looking at her, so she sets up in the chairs and puts a look on her face that says I am awake.

Alex: Emma If you want to go home take my car and go. I can call Sean and he can come and pick me up.
Emma: Lexi, I am fine. Beside Sean is cover for Jay at Tony auto shop tonight.
Alex: Yeah I forget about that.

Four hours later a doctor pulls the curtain open and walks over to Alex. Nurse Flower and a nurse Cat come walk up behind the doctor. Nurse Flower is carrying a black knee immobilization and a match black walking cast for her ankle, Nurse Cat is carrying a pair of crutch. Alex knows by sees the look on the doctor face and by what the nurses are carrying that Chad has really hurt her this time. Then nurse Flower puts the walking cast on her right ankle and then puts the knee immobilization on her right knee. Nurse Cat set the crutch down at the end of the bed, then the nurses walk away from Alex and go back to work.

Alex: What wrong with my right knee and ankle?
Dr. Diesel: Alex first I will start with your right knee. You tear your ACL, M.C.L., P.C.L. You also broke your right knee cap in three spots and you dislocation your knee too. Now this is what is wrong with your right ankle. You have torn your Achilles tendon. You also bruised your shine and broke the join at your ankle and foot.
Alex: Can I go home now?
Dr. Diesel: Yes, but here a name and number of an orthopedic that I want you to call and make an appointment with Alex.
Alex: Ok

The doctor hands Alex the crutch and then her and Emma walk out of the ER and into the wait area. Emma heads outsides to get Alex’s car. She then pulls the car up to the ER door. Alex puts the crutch onto the back seat and then gets into the car. Emma puts the car into drive after Alex has closed the door and put her seat belt on and then Emma start heading to the drug story to pick up Alex prescription.
