* Note story take place doing season four when Alex was in the eleven grades. She Never breaks up with Jay.

Alex has her hands in her jean pockets as she walks up to the front steps of Degrassi community school. She knows that Mr. Simpson is going to be mad at her for being late for first hour home room, but she does not care. Alex slow walks up the steps and into the school build. The way time wishes she had just let her mom call her into school sick, but she was not sick and she did not want her mom to lie for her. She knows that other students and Teacher would ask her why she has bruises on her arms and two black eyes, but being asking question about the bruise was better then have to stay home all day laying in bed listen to Chad (her mom’s boyfriends) sleeping his hangover off. She gets to the M.I. lab and take her hands out of her jean pockets and open up the classroom door and heads into the room. Mr. Simpson looks up at Alex when she walks into the room.

Mr. Simpson: Miss. Nunez you are late, classes started a half hour ago!
Alex: Sorry, I did not get to sleep to really late and I must have forgot to set my alarm clock because it never went off and I over sleep.
Mr. Simpson: That the three times this week and it only Wednesday.
Alex: I know I will be on time the rest of the week.
Mr. Simpson: Take your sunglass off Miss. Nunez and start work on your homework.
Alex: I cannot I have a migraine from not get enough sleep and the light really hurt my eyes.
Mr. Simpson: Fine, but go take your seat next to Jay and start doing any homework you need to finish.

Alex walks to the last line of computers and set down in the seat next to Jay. He looks his girlfriend over and knows from the bruises that are up and down both her arms. That Chad used her as his punch bag last night. Jay put his left arm around Alex and she lays her head on his left shoulder and closes her eyes; which no one can tell because her sunglasses are still on.

Alex fall asleep doing home room, Jay lightly shakes Alex to wake her up at the end of class. Alex lifts her head off Jay shoulder and looks at him. Jay helps her up and the two of them walk out of the M.I. lab and head to their next class which is auto shops.

Jay: Lexi what happened Last night?
Alex: I decide to call in sick to the movie theater last night because I had really bad cramps. Not know Chad was going to be home last night, see that it was his porker night. But Chad switch porker night to our house.
Jay: Let me guess his buddies bring lots of beer to porker night.
Alex: Yeah, and you know how he gets when he drinks. I come out of my room to get a glass of water and Chad sees me and start yelling at me for come out of my bedroom. The next thing I remember is wakening up this morning laying on the kitchen floor and I had bruises all over my body.
Jay: Lexi takes your sunglass off for a minute so I can see your eyes.

Alex and Jay stop walking so Alex can take her sunglass off. She pushes then up into her hair. Jay looks at his girlfriend and is shock at how swollen and blacks and blue her eyes are. He pulls her close to him and hugs her, right as she starts to cry.

Jay: Lexi, you and your mom can’t continue to live like this!
Alex: I have tries to tell mine mom that but she won’t listen to me.
Jay: Let takes off and go to my house.
Alex: Sure, I do not want to be here anyway.

That night when Alex gets home to change for work, she walks into the apartment to find Chad lay on the couch, Emily (Mom) walks out of her and Chad bedroom and over to Alex.

Emily: Lexi the school called the house. Mrs. Hatzilakos Say you skip all your classes today!
Alex: Jay drive me over to his mom house and I crush in the guestroom.
Emily: Why?
Alex: Because I had a migraine and my whole body was sore from Chad beat me up last night.
Chad: If you would have not come out of your room, I would not have had to beat you up.
Alex: I allowed to get a glass of water!
Chad: Not when I have friends over!

Chad gets off the couch and starts beat Alex up again.

Alex: Chad why are you hit me now?
Chad: BECAUSE YOU SKIP SCHOOL, DON’T EVERY SKIP SCHOOL AGAIN.
Alex: I have to go to work.

Alex runs into her bedroom and changes for work. She then runs out of the apartment. She then runs to the mall.

Alex gets to work five minute late and looks around for Merri, but can see her anywhere so she joins Paige behind the snack counter.

Alex: Where Merri at?
Paige: She out picking up more nacho chesses. Don’t worry I clock you in.
Alex: But Merri had to ask you where I was?
Paige: I tell her you was in the restroom change into your uniform.
Alex: Thanks for cover for me.
Paige: Alex, what happened you are cover in old bruise and new bruises?
Alex: Nothing, I just tripped that all.
Paige: You don’t get hand marks from tripping Alex, Did Jay’s do this to you?
Alex: No, Paige just drop it!
Paige: No, it’s not all right for someone too, beat you up!
Alex: It was Chad, my mom’s boyfriend, he was drunk and when he drinks he gets mean. I should stay in my room the other night when I call in sick to work and I should have not skip school today and I would not have get beat up two days in a row.
Paige: Alex’s there must be somewhere safe you can stay?
Alex: (As she gets popcorn for a customer) When Chad gets really bad me and my mom goes and stays at a woman shelter.
Paige: You are old enough to live on you own, why don’t you just move into your own apartment?
Alex: Because I can’t afford to Paige. Now just drop it, Paige!
Paige: Ok.

Alex gets off work at the end of her shift and Jay is waiting to take her home. Jay looks at Alex as she gets into his car and can see that something is bothering her. After Alex had put her seatbelt on. He starts his car up and pulls out of the mall parking lot and head to the ravine. So the two of them can blow off some stream. Once at the ravine Jay goes over to where the beer is and he grabs Alex and him a beer. After each of them have a few beers. Alex goes into the back half of the van, Jay put a sign on the van window say in use for the rest of the night. He then gets into the back of the van and he closes and locks the van doors. Alex pulls Jay over to her and unzips his pants and Jay’s unbutton her uniform shirt and takes it off of her as the two of them are kiss eachother. Before both of them know it, the sun has come up and is shined through the window of the van into their eyes. Both Jay and Alex pull their pants on. Jay pulls his t-shirt over his head and Alex throws on her tank top on.

Jay: Do you want me to take you home before school Lexi?
Alex: No, Let just swing by The Dot and get some breakfast please.
Jay: Ok, Anything for you Lexi and Last night was great, I am glad I did not rush you into having sex and sleep with me and waiting to you were ready to.
Alex: Yeah, It was awesome Jay.

They get out of the van and head to Jay car. Alex gets into the passenger seat while Jay gets behind the wheel and starts the car. He pulls out onto the road and head to The Dot. It take all of two minutes to get to the Dot. Once at the Dot Jay and Alex head inside and take a seat at their normal booth. Spinner, walks over to them.

Spinner: Can I take you order?
Jay: We both have Eggs, Bacon, toast and pancake with strawberry on top.
Alex: And two large Coffee.
Spinner: I bring you coffee right away it will take about three minutes for the food to be ready.
Jay: That fine Spinner.

Jay watches Alex as they eat breakfast. He can tell something bothering her, but knows better then to ask her about it. He is started to worry about her, seeing that it was her idea to come to The Dot to get some breakfast, before school and she hardly even touch her food. She has had several refill of coffee. He also notices Alex is begin to look a little flush.

Alex: Jay, can you take me home before you go to school?
Jay: Lexi, baby what wrong, you were starved when you ask to come to The Dot and you have hardly touch your food?
Alex: I am not sure Jay. I just lost my appetite and started to feel ache all over and I am also really cold.
Jay: Sure Lexi, I will take you home. Here took my jacket and put on, baby!

Jay takes his jacket off and help Alex put the jacket on. He then wraps his right arm around her and the two of them walks up to the counter and Jay pays Spinner for their food.

Spinner: Was everything ok, because I notice Alex hardly touch her food?
Alex; Yeah, the food was great. I just lost my appetite right after I order it.
Spinner: That never good, you are not getting sick are you?
Alex: I hope not, I think I am just really tired is all.
Spinner: I would go home and not go to school.
Jay: I am going to take Alex home before coming to school.
Spinner: Ok, I will let the teacher know that when you and Alex were eat breakfast at the Dot she got really sick and you had to take her home.
Jay: Thanks Spinner.

Jay helps Alex back out to his car and open up the passenger’s door for her. Alex set down in the seat and lean it back. Jay puts Alex Seatbelt on for her. Then goes over to the drive side and gets behind the wheel. Before he start his car up, he looks over at Alex and notices she is Shivering. He starts his car and drive over to Emily, Chad and Alex apartment build. He pulls into the parking lot and pulls into a parking spot by the door to Alex building. He gets out of the car and goes over to Alex sides of the car and opens the door up for her. Alex slow gets out and puts her arm around her boyfriend. Jay warps his right arm around her. Then the two of them head inside and up the four flights of stairs to Alex apartment. When Alex gets the door open and the two of them start walking into the apartment the first thing they see is Emily laying on the floor with a stab wound to her right shoulder and that both her wrists and ankles are the size of watermelons and that Emily also has a huge cut on the top of her hand. Jay, then feel Alex go limp. He lifts her up and carries her over to the couch. He then runs over to Emily and check to see if she is breath and he found she is, but he cannot wake her up so he calls 911. He then sees Alex has set up on the couch and is looking over at her mom. She stares at Emily for about twenty second before put her hands over her mouth and run into the bathroom and close the door behind her.

Jay could hear his girlfriend getting sick in the bathroom, but was not sure if he should stay by Emily or go help Alex out. The EMT and the police come through the door of the apartment and the EMT goes over to Emily and start work on her. The police take Jay aside to talk to him, But all Jay can really think of is his girlfriend, who still has not came out of the bathroom.

Police Office: Did you see what happened here?
Jay: No
Police office: Do you live here?
Jay: No
Police office: Then why are you here?
Jay: That My girlfriends mom, I was bring her back home because when we was at the Dot ate breakfast she get really sick.
Police office: And where is your girlfriend now?
Jay: The bathroom getting sick and she did not see what happened either she was crush at my place last night because her Mom’s boyfriend, got into a fight with her, before she went into work.
Police office: This is now a crime scene, so we have to ask you to go get her out of the bathroom and take her some place else.
Jay: Ok
EMT: We taking Miss. Nunez to the ER at St. Mary Hospital.
Jay: I driver Alex there so she can talk to her mom doctor.
EMT: OK, we are going now.

Jay walks up to the bathroom door and knock, but does not get any answers. He also doesn’t hear anything. He open the bathroom door to find Alex passes out on the bathroom floor. He runs up to his girlfriend and kneels down next to Alex and shakes her but she does not come, too. He feels her hand and founds she has a fever. Thinking to himself, come to think of it she felt warm last night when we made love and get uncomfortable when I touch her stomach. He picks Alex up and carries her out to his car and set her onto the passenger’s seat. Alex starts to come to after having the chilling wind blow on her for a few seconds. She open her eyes and looks around and sees she in the passenger’s seat of Jays car and he is kneel outside her door stare at her.

Alex: My mom is she ok?
Jay: I am not sure Lexi. The EMT took her to St. Mary Hospital, I tell the EMT we meet them there.
Alex: Lets go Jay!
Jay: Baby, I worry about you. What the last thing you remember hearing, seeing or doing?
Alex: I remember that I saw you dial 911 as I get up and run into the bathroom then start to get sick and then everything blocks out.
Jay: Because you pass out, Lexi
Alex: Jay, I need to check on my mom.
Jay: Fine

Jay stands up and closes the car door. He then walks over to the drive side of the car and gets in. He looks over at Alex before started the car and sees Alex is shriving, he reaches into his backseat and grabs one of the blankets he keeps in his car and then hands it to Alex. She lays the seat back then unfold the blanket and lays it over the top of her as Jay’s pulls out of the parking lot of the apartment build. On the ride to the hospital in Jay car Alex starts thinking to her self about how awful she has felt the last few days. I had bad cramp on Tuesday at lest that what I though it was, but I had already had her period this month. So I should not have had cramp again so soon and I also had a headache since Sunday night .I also had a slight cough, stuffed up noses since I got up this morning and now I have a sore throat. But I have no, idea why I start throwing up my stomach was not even upset when I walk into the apartment. See all that blood my mom lost and seeing her so beat-up most off cause me to get sick to my stomach. She then notices that Jay has just parked the car in St. Mary parking lot and he is looking very worried about her but also about her mom as well.

Jay: Lexi, Honey are you ready to go inside and check on you mom, I already be inside the doctor and nurse have Emily stable now and in an examined room, but will not tell me any more?
Lexi: Sure let go.

Jay could hear his girlfriend getting sick in the bathroom, but was not sure if he should stay by Emily or go help Alex out. The EMT and the police come through the door of the apartment and the EMT goes over to Emily and start work on her. The police take Jay aside to talk to him, But all Jay can really think of is his girlfriend, who still has not came out of the bathroom.

Jay: No

Jay: No
Police office: Then why are you here?

Jay’s get back out of the car and walks over to the passenger sides and he open the door up for his girlfriend. Alex turns around in the seat and puts her feet onto the ground. She tries to stand up but falls back down onto the seat. Jay’s helps her up and wraps his left arm around her waist. He then close the passenger side car door. He helps Alex walk from the parking lot into the ER. The doctor sees Jay walking in with his girlfriend and walks over to them.

Dr. Bell: Jay is the Emily Nunez daughter?
Jay: Yes, this is Alex Nunez.
Alex: Can you tell me how my mom is doing and what is wrong with her Dr. Bell.
Dr. Bell: Sure, But first let go into my office and set down.
Alex: That would be nice, can Jay come with me?
Dr. Bell: Sure.

Jay and Alex follow Dr. Bell into his office and once inside the office Jay and Alex takes a set on the couch that in the office. Dr. Bell takes a set in a chair across from then and open up Emily Nunez’s case file, he then looks over at Alex.

Dr. Bell: First off your mom has two broken wrists and to broken ankles and a smell cut on her hand. The x-ray and MRI to her right shoulder show no damage to the bone or to any of the major blood vessels.
Alex: Then can I go and see her?
Dr. Bell: Not right now she is talking to the police right now, because she is pressing charge against her boyfriend Chad for beat her up and stabbing her. There is something else you need to know, before I take the X-rays and MRI, I run a pregnancy test on your mom and it was positive.
Jay: The X-rays and MRI, will they hurt the baby?
Dr. Bell: No, the MRI or X-rays won’t hurt the baby.
Alex: How far along is she?
Dr. Bell: Around fourteen weeks.
Alex: Ah-Choo
Dr. Bell: Bless you!
Alex: Thanks
Dr. Bell: I also did an ultrasound on your mom and she is having triple, Alex!
Alex: How long does she need to stay in the hospital for?
Dr. Bell: For at lest four weeks.
Alex: Ok, can I please go and see my mom now?
Dr. Bell: All right, she is examined room number three.

Jay and Alex get up from the couch and Jay puts his right arm around Alex waists. Then the two off then walk down the hallway and go to examine room number three. Emily sees Alex and Jay walk towards the examined room and smiles at the two of them as they walk into the room. Jay walks Alex over to the chair next to her mom bed and helps her set down. Emily looks over at her daughter and knows right away she is not feeling good.

Alex: (Clears her throat.) Jay can you go to the pop machine and get me a Mt. Dew, because I am really thirsty?
Jay: Sure Lexi, I will be right back.

Jay kiss Alex on her forehead then walks back out of the room and down the hall to the pop machine, as he walking away he is thinking to him self. Alex fever has gone up in the last twenty minutes, she is now burning up. Alex takes a good look at her mom and takes in the cast on both her wrists and legs.

Alex: Chad really did it this time, you are not going to take him back this time are you Mom?
Emily: No, we are done, It’s not safe to have him around now that I am with children again. You finally going to be a big sister, Lexi.
Alex: Coughs, Yeah I am and you are having triples, but how are we going to afford three more mouth to feed mom and we will have rent a house because the apartment is not big enough?
Emily: Lets not worry about that right now Lexi, I am more worry about you?

Just then Jay’s walks into the examined room and hand Alex her pop. She takes it from him and opens the bottle right and takes several sips before puts the cap back onto the bottle. Alex notices that both Emily and Jay are watching her very closely .

Alex: What I am just thirsty, Ah-Choo, is all.
Jay: I think, I should take you home to my house and get you to bed Lexi, you start to sound really bad.
Alex: No, I want to stay to they get my mom into, Ah-Choo, a room upstairs.
Emily: No, Lexi let Jay take you to his house. You need to take care of yourself and not get any sicker then you already are sweet.
Alex: Mom, I don’t want to leave, Ah-Choo, yet!
Emily: No, If and/or but. Jay taking you back to his mom place right now.
Alex: Fine, I am really tired and I do feel awful. I will come by and see you when I feel better mom.

Alex stands up and gives her mom a hug. Emily’s kiss her daughter’s forehead and then give her a look that say she is very worried about her.

Emily: Jay, when you get to your mom house take Lexi temperature, she feels really warm and if she still sounds this bad tomorrow take Lexi to the doctor, with her having Asthma I do not want the cold to got into her lungs.
Jay: I will Emily, don’t worry. I will not let Lexi, cold move into her lungs!

Jay helps Alex back out to his car and then he drives to his and his mom house. After only a minute of being in the car Alex has fallen to sleep. When Jay’s get home he pulls his car into the garage that has a connected door to the house so Alex will not have to go back out into the chill October air. He gets out of the car and walks over to the passenger sides and opens the door up. He picks Alex up and carries her into the house and upstairs to the guest’s bedroom and lays down onto the bedroom, she then pulls the cover over top of her. He then goes back out to his car and grabs his and Alex book bags and brings them inside.

* Jay has a six -year- old sister name Kaylee, in this story.

As Jay, is sitting both his and Alex’s book bag onto the couch. His mom walks out of the kitchen and looks at him. He sees that she is carrying a sip cup full of Apple juice in her right hand.

Mrs. Hogart: Jason Michael Hogart, what are you doing home from school?
Jay: Lexi and I went to the dot for breakfast and during breakfast she got sick and ask me to take her home. So I drive her home, but when we get to her, Chad and Emily place. We find Emily laying unconscious on the floor with both of her ankle and wrist broken. Along with a stab wound to her right shoulder and a cut on her hand. When Lexi saw her mom like that it cause to feel really nausea, so she runs into the bathroom and start getting sick and then end up passes out. I went to check on Emily, then call 911. Once the EMT took Emily to the hospital, I take Lexi, to check on her mom. Once Emily saw Lexi, she made me bring her over here, because they place is a crime scene right now.
Mrs. Hogart: That was fine, But I want you to go to school for the rest of the day.
Jay: No, I want to stay with Lexi.
Mrs. Hogart: No, go to three hour and also pick up your homework from second hour and pick up all of Lexi homework for today.
Jay: Fine, Lexi is a sleep in the guest room, can you take and put her Mt. Dew bottle on the night stand. Incase, she wakes up and is thirsty?
Mrs. Hogart: Sure Jay.
Jay: Oh and when she wakes up form her nap, have her check her temperature, because she feels really warm. Mom, why do you have a sip cup full of apple juices in your hand?
Mrs. Hogart: Kaylee stay home, because she has diarrhea again.
Jay: Kaylee has already missed fourteen days of school this year mom. How is she going to pass kindergarten, if she keeps miss school?
Mrs. Hogart: I have already talk with her teacher and she is going to drop off the activity sheets the class is work on, so I can do them with Kaylee.
Jay: Ok, I see you when school out this afternoon, but first I need a late note.
Mrs. Hogart: I will write you one.


Jay picks up his book bag from the couch as his mom is writing the note. Once his mom has handed him the note he heads into the garage and gets into his car. He pulls out of the garage and heads to school. Meanwhile, inside the house Kaylee walks out of her bedroom and looking around for her mom. Who told her she would be back upstairs in a few minutes, but has not come back upstairs yet or into her bedroom. She walks to the right and past the bathroom and to her mom’s bedroom and looks into the bedroom, but no one in there. She then walks down the hallway and looks into her brother bedroom but there no one in there. She hears someone cough in the guest room so she walks far down the hallway. Insides the guest room Alex has set up in the bed and is blowing her nose into a tissue when a little girl with dirty blond hair and hazel eyes walks into the guest room and looks at her.

Alex: Kaylee sweet what is wrong?
Kaylee: Lexi, have you seen my mom?
Alex: No, but can I help you?
Kaylee: No.

Just then Mrs. Hogart walks into the guest room carrying a sip cup of apple juice and a twenty-oz bottle of Mt. Dew. She hands the sip cup to Kaylee and then sets the Mt. Dew bottle on the night stand. Mrs. Hogart then walks over and takes a set on the edge of the bed and feels Alex’s forehead with her right hand. Kaylee gets up onto the bed and start drinking her apple juice and is watching her mom take care of Alex.

Alex: I am still run warm right?
Mrs. Hogart: Yes Lexi, Jay tells me you are not feeling good, can you tell me what symptom you have?
Alex: (Sniffling) I am, Ah-Choo, ache all over, my head is all congested. I also have a sore throat and a dry cough. Lastly I have a really bad headache right over my eyes.
Mrs. Hogart: I am going to go into the main bathroom and get the thermometer, then I am going to come back in here and take your temperature.
Alex: Coughs, Ok.
Mrs. Hogart: Kaylee, come with me, you need to go back to your bedroom and get back into bed.
Kaylee: No, I want to stay here with Lexi!
Alex: Kaylee, you should go back to your bedroom, I do not want to give you what I have. I really can afford to catch what you have!
Kaylee: Ok

Kaylee hops off the bed she runs out of the guest room and take off down the hallway and goes into her bedroom. She crawls into her bed and finishes drink the last few sips of her apple juice then lay back down and goes to sleep. A minute later in the guest room, Alex has just put the thermometer into her mouth and she is waiting for it to beep, so she can take the thermometer out of her mouth and take a drink of her pop. Thirty second later it starts beeping and Mrs. Hogart takes the thermometer out of Alex’s mouth and looks at it.

Alex: Do I have a fever?
Mrs. Hogart: (Alex coughing) Yes, you have a fever of 39.8 C (103.8 F). I do believe that you have the flu Lexi
Alex: Yeah me to, great I hate, Ah-Choo, being sick.
Mrs. Hogart: Can I get you anything?
Alex: No, I am going to go back to sleep.
Mrs. Hogart: Ok, I will come and check in on you later.
Alex: Ok

Alex takes a sip of her pop then lays back down, as Mrs. Hogart walks out of the room and closes the bedroom door.

Alex wakes up two and half hours later and set up in bed. She pulls a tissue out of the tissue box and blows her nose. At the sometime starts having a cough fit. Once she stops coughing, she leans her head up against the headboard and she notices Kaylee standing at the doorway rubbing her eyes. Alex throws her used tissue into the small trash can that Mrs. Hogart had set by the bed when she had come into the guest room and check on her an hour ago. Alex grabs a new tissue and blows her nose another time, as she throws that tissue away. She notices that Kaylee is now holding her stomach and walk toward her.

Alex: What do you need Kay ( her nick name)?
Kaylee: Mine, tummy hurt Lexi!
Alex: Have you told, Ah-Choo, your mom?
Kaylee: Her boss Mrs. Angel call and ask her to come into work and cover for her!
Alex: Did your mom tell her that you are sick?
Kaylee: Yeah, but her boss water break, so she has to go to the hospital. Mom the only one that can full in for the boss and since you are here, mom knows I would be taking care of.
Alex: Ok, come on over here a take a set next to me.

Kaylee walks over to the bed holding her stomach and crying. She takes her hands off her stomach long enough to climb up onto the bed. Alex slides over to the center of the bed. She lift the bedspread back and Kaylee crawls over next to Alex and takes a set next to her. Kaylee start holding her stomach again as Alex puts the bedspread over her as well. Kaylee then lays her head on Alex right shoulder.

Kaylee: I do not feel good.
Alex: I know, neither do I!
Kaylee: My tummy feels oogy, Lexi!
Alex: Do you think you going to be sick?
Kaylee: Maybe!
Alex: Let get up and go into the bathroom!
Kaylee: Ok

Kaylee crawls over to the left side of the bed and hops of then run across the room and into the connected bathroom. Alex Slower gets out of bed and walks to the bathroom door. When she gets to the bathroom, she founds Jay little sister lean over the toilet throwing up. Alex walks over to her and pulls the young girl dirty blond hair out of her face. Kaylee stops throwing up after ten minutes. Alex sees the little girls legs are shake, so she picks up, Kaylee and carry her back into the quest room and set her on the bed. Alex then walks back into the bathroom and flushes the toilet. Alex then goes back over to Kaylee and takes the thermometer off the night stand that on the right side of the bed. Alex puts the thermometer under Kaylee left underarm and the two girls wait for the thermometer to starts beeping together. It beeps thirty seconds later and Alex takes the thermometer out from under Kaylee underarm and looks at it. She sees that Kaylee has a fever of 39.2 C (102.7 F).

Kaylee: (Crying) Do I have a fever Lexi?
Alex: Yeah, I am going to carry you back to your bedroom and put you back into bed.
Kaylee: No, stay here!
Alex: No, Ah-Choo, It’s better that you sleep in your bed Kaylee.
Kaylee: Fine!

Alex picks Kaylee up and she lays her head on Alex right shoulder and closes her eyes. By the time they get to Kaylee’s bedroom the six -year-old girl is asleep in Alex arm. Alex lays Kaylee on her bed and pulls her pink bedspread over her. She walks out of Jay’s little sister bedroom and closes her door. She then heads downstairs and heads into the living room. Alex finds her book bag lay on the couch. She picks up her book bag and then leans up against the back of the couch for a few minutes, so she can catch her breath. Alex then walks into the kitchen and gets a bottle of water out of the refrigerator. Alex heads upstairs drinking her water, when she gets back into the guest room, she takes a set on the bed. She takes her cellphone out and calls Jay mom cellphone to leave a voice mail, but Mrs. Hogart, answers instead.

Mrs. Hogart: Has Kaylee getting worse Lexi?
Alex: Coughs, yeah she has a fever of 39.2 C (102.7 F) and has also throwing up once for ten straight minutes.
Mrs. Hogart: What is Kaylee doing right now Lexi?
Alex: She is sleeping.
Mrs. Hogart: Good, Just let her sleep and if she gets any worse call me back.
Alex: Ah-Choo, Ok. I am going to grab a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt out of Jay bedroom, then take a warm shower.
Mrs. Hogart: That fine keep the guest room door open and the bathroom door crack, so Kaylee can hear the shower running and know where you are.
Alex: Ok.

Alex flips her cellphone closes and then goes into Jay’s bedroom. She walks over to his dresser and gets out the pair of grey sweatpants and the match grey sweatshirt. She close the three drawer and open up the second drawer and grabs one of Jay’s white t-shirts. She walks back into the guest room and open up her book bag and then get into the hide pocket on the inside and pulls out a ziplock bag that has a couple pair of underwear inside of it. She pulls a pair out and set them on top of the white t-shirts. She put the ziplock bag back into the hide pocket and rezip her book bag. She then heads into the bathroom and set the clothing on top of the sink. She walks over to wall on the left and open up the closest door and gets a large towel and a hair towel out. She then hangs the towels on the towel bar that is on the wall by the door and the shower. Alex takes off her tan work pants and the tank top that she been wearing since last night. She then takes her underwear and bra off and gets into the shower and closes the shower door.

Meanwhile, at Degrassi Jay, Sean and Spinner are setting in the lunch room and all three of them are working on their history homework that due tomorrow during their three-hour class. Jay keeps checking his cellphone to sees if Alex or his mom has called him or left him a text message. But when he looks at his cellphone it starts to ring to the tone of NO one home, which is the ring tone for his sister Kaylee firefly phone. Jay flips his cellphone open and takes the call right away.

Jay: Kaylee what is wrong and why did you not get mom?
Kaylee: Mom had to go into work, her boss water break.
Jay: Tell me what is wrong now?
Kaylee: Its Lexi
Jay: What is wrong with Lexi Kaylee?
Kaylee: I’m not sure, she is setting on the shower floor and it sounds like she is having a very hard time breath.
Jay: Does she have the water run in the shower?
Kaylee: Yes, she would not let me turn the warm water off.
Jay: Kaylee go into the guest bathroom and stay with Lexi till I get there.
Kaylee: Ok

Kaylee push the off button on her phone and run back into the guest bathroom. Jay flips his cellphone closes and throwing his history homework into his book bag. Sean and Spinner look up at Jay.

Sean: Jay’s what is wrong with, Lexi?
Jay: I not really sure, Kaylee just said it sounding like she having a hard time breath.
Sean: Do you need me to come and watch Kaylee?
Jay: No, but thanks for offer Sean. But Spinner, can you do me a favor pick mine and Alex homework up for Math and Media Immersion then drop off at my house after school?
Spinner: Yeah Jay thanks, see you after school.

Jay zip his book bag up and take her key out of his jean pocket then runs out of the lunchroom. Jay is run down the hall to the main door of Degrassi when Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Simpson stop in front of him, which make Jay comes to a fast stop.

Mr. Simpson: Jay’s what the big rush?
Jay: MY six -year -old sister just call me and tell me that Alex is have a very hard time breathing.
Mr. Armstrong: Why is Alex at your house she supposed to be at home sick?
Jay: I take Alex home and walk up to her mom apartment and find Emily (Alex mom) Beat up and passes out on the floor. Emily rushes to the hospital and their apartment is a crime scene. So after Alex sees her mom at the hospital, Emily made take Alex to my mom house.
Mrs. Simpson: If your sister home from school sick way is you mom not there?
Jay: Her boss went into labor and my mom the only one that can take her place and since Alex was there my mom went into work. Can I go home now and help Alex, because my sister does not know what to do?
Mr. Simpson and Mr. Armstrong: Yeah go.

Jay runs out of the school and all the way to his car. He unlocks the drive side door and gets into the car. He throws his book bag onto the passenger’s seat. Jay speeds all the way to his house and up the drive way. He puts her car into park and turns the car of. Jay gets out of his car really fast and runs inside the house and upstairs to the guest room. He runs into the bathroom and sees his girlfriend setting on the shower floor. He can hear that Alex is gasp for air.

Jay: Kaylee can you bring me Lexi, book bag?
Kaylee: Sure

Kaylee runs back into the bedroom and grab Alex’s book bag off the bed. She walks back to the bathroom door and gives Jay the book bag. Kaylee then goes and lays down on the bed in the guest room, because her stomach is hurting really bad. Jay turns off the shower and helps Alex up. Alex grabs her hair towel and puts her hair in the towel. She then wraps the other towel around her body. Alex walks over to the toilet and puts the lid down and takes a set. Jay unzips the front pocket of Alex’s book bag and gets her inhaler out. Jay shakes the inhaler and then hands it to Alex. She takes a few puffs from the inhaler, she hands the inhaler back to Jay. He walks out of the bathroom and closes the door behind him. He sets Alex’s inhaler on the night stands. He then notices Kaylee has gone to sleep on the bed, so he picks her up and carries her into her bedroom. Once in Kaylee’s bedroom her lays her down onto her bed and cover his little sister up with her bedspread. Jay sets down on the edge of his sister bed. He then kisses his sister forehead and feel that she is running warm. Jay stands back up and walks back into the guest room. He walks into the guest room and sees the bathroom door is still closes he walks over to the door and knocks.

Jay: Lexi, is everything ok?
Alex: Yeah
Jay: Are you going to come out of the bathroom?
Alex: I do not think I can make it to the bed on, coughs.
Jay: Do you want me to help you back to bed?
Alex: Yes

Jay opens the bathroom down and walks into the bathroom and seeds his girlfriend wear a pair of grey sweatpants. Along with one of his white t-shirt and grey sweatshirts. He walks over to Alex and help her stand up and then help her walk out of the bathroom and over to the bed. Alex takes a set on the bed and starts having a cough fit. Jay puts his left arm around Alex waist and Alex lays her head on Jay left shoulder.

Alex: Is Kaylee ok, because think seeing me gasps for breath scary her?
Jay: I think she is fine Lexi, but have you take her temperature at all since my mom went into work?
Alex: Yeah, right before I get into the shower forty-seven minutes ago.
Jay: Did she have a fever?
Alex: Yeah it was 39.2 C (102.7). Jay can you please go make me some hot tea and toast?
Jay: Sure Lexi, But I want you to get back under the covers.
Alex: OK

Jay stands up and Alex lays down on the right-hand side of the bed and Jay covers her up. He kisses his girlfriend on the forehead, then head downstairs to the kitchen.

Alex has her hands in her jean pockets as she walks up to the front steps of Degrassi community school. She knows that Mr. Simpson is going to be mad at her for being late for first hour home room, but she does not care. Alex slow walks up the steps and into the school build. The way time wishes she had just let her mom call her into school sick, but she was not sick and she did not want her mom to lie for her. She knows that other students and Teacher would ask her why she has bruises on her arms and two black eyes, but being asking question about the bruise was better then have to stay home all day laying in bed listen to Chad (her mom’s boyfriends) sleeping his hangover off. She gets to the M.I. lab and take her hands out of her jean pockets and open up the classroom door and heads into the room. Mr. Simpson looks up at Alex when she walks into the room.

Mr. Simpson: Miss. Nunez you are late, classes started a half hour ago!
Alex: Sorry, I did not get to sleep to really late and I must have forgot to set my alarm clock because it never went off and I over sleep.
Mr. Simpson: That the three times this week and it only Wednesday.
Alex: I know I will be on time the rest of the week.
Mr. Simpson: Take your sunglass off Miss. Nunez and start work on your homework.
Alex: I cannot I have a migraine from not get enough sleep and the light really hurt my eyes.
Mr. Simpson: Fine, but go take your seat next to Jay and start doing any homework you need to finish.

Alex walks to the last line of computers and set down in the seat next to Jay. He looks his girlfriend over and knows from the bruises that are up and down both her arms. That Chad used her as his punch bag last night. Jay put his left arm around Alex and she lays her head on his left shoulder and closes her eyes; which no one can tell because her sunglasses are still on.

Alex fall asleep doing home room, Jay lightly shakes Alex to wake her up at the end of class. Alex lifts her head off Jay shoulder and looks at him. Jay helps her up and the two of them walk out of the M.I. lab and head to their next class which is auto shops.

Jay: Lexi what happened Last night?
Alex: I decide to call in sick to the movie theater last night because I had really bad cramps. Not know Chad was going to be home last night, see that it was his porker night. But Chad switch porker night to our house.
Jay: Let me guess his buddies bring lots of beer to porker night.
Alex: Yeah, and you know how he gets when he drinks. I come out of my room to get a glass of water and Chad sees me and start yelling at me for come out of my bedroom. The next thing I remember is wakening up this morning laying on the kitchen floor and I had bruises all over my body.
Jay: Lexi takes your sunglass off for a minute so I can see your eyes.

Alex and Jay stop walking so Alex can take her sunglass off. She pushes then up into her hair. Jay looks at his girlfriend and is shock at how swollen and blacks and blue her eyes are. He pulls her close to him and hugs her, right as she starts to cry.

Jay: Lexi, you and your mom can’t continue to live like this!
Alex: I have tries to tell mine mom that but she won’t listen to me.
Jay: Let takes off and go to my house.
Alex: Sure, I do not want to be here anyway.



That night when Alex gets home to change for work, she walks into the apartment to find Chad lay on the couch, Emily (Mom) walks out of her and Chad bedroom and over to Alex.

Emily: Lexi the school called the house. Mrs. Hatzilakos Say you skip all your classes today!
Alex: Jay drive me over to his mom house and I crush in the guestroom.
Emily: Why?
Alex: Because I had a migraine and my whole body was sore from Chad beat me up last night.
Chad: If you would have not come out of your room, I would not have had to beat you up.
Alex: I allowed to get a glass of water!
Chad: Not when I have friends over!

Chad gets off the couch and starts beat Alex up again.

Alex: Chad why are you hit me now?
Chad: BECAUSE YOU SKIP SCHOOL, DON’T EVERY SKIP SCHOOL AGAIN.
Alex: I have to go to work.

Alex runs into her bedroom and changes for work. She then runs out of the apartment. She then runs to the mall.

Alex gets to work five minute late and looks around for Merri, but can see her anywhere so she joins Paige behind the snack counter.

Alex: Where Merri at?
Paige: She out picking up more nacho chesses. Don’t worry I clock you in.
Alex: But Merri had to ask you where I was?
Paige: I tell her you was in the restroom change into your uniform.
Alex: Thanks for cover for me.
Paige: Alex, what happened you are cover in old bruise and new bruises?
Alex: Nothing, I just tripped that all.
Paige: You don’t get hand marks from tripping Alex, Did Jay’s do this to you?
Alex: No, Paige just drop it!
Paige: No, it’s not all right for someone too, beat you up!
Alex: It was Chad, my mom’s boyfriend, he was drunk and when he drinks he gets mean. I should stay in my room the other night when I call in sick to work and I should have not skip school today and I would not have get beat up two days in a row.
Paige: Alex’s there must be somewhere safe you can stay?
Alex: (As she gets popcorn for a customer) When Chad gets really bad me and my mom goes and stays at a woman shelter.
Paige: You are old enough to live on you own, why don’t you just move into your own apartment?
Alex: Because I can’t afford to Paige. Now just drop it, Paige!
Paige: Ok.


Alex gets off work at the end of her shift and Jay is waiting to take her home. Jay looks at Alex as she gets into his car and can see that something is bothering her. After Alex had put her seatbelt on. He starts his car up and pulls out of the mall parking lot and head to the ravine. So the two of them can blow off some stream. Once at the ravine Jay goes over to where the beer is and he grabs Alex and him a beer. After each of them have a few beers. Alex goes into the back half of the van, Jay put a sign on the van window say in use for the rest of the night. He then gets into the back of the van and he closes and locks the van doors. Alex pulls Jay over to her and unzips his pants and Jay’s unbutton her uniform shirt and takes it off of her as the two of them are kiss eachother. Before both of them know it, the sun has come up and is shined through the window of the van into their eyes. Both Jay and Alex pull their pants on. Jay pulls his t-shirt over his head and Alex throws on her tank top on.

Jay: Do you want me to take you home before school Lexi?
Alex: No, Let just swing by The Dot and get some breakfast please.
Jay: Ok, Anything for you Lexi and Last night was great, I am glad I did not rush you into having sex and sleep with me and waiting to you were ready to.
Alex: Yeah, It was awesome Jay.

They get out of the van and head to Jay car. Alex gets into the passenger seat while Jay gets behind the wheel and starts the car. He pulls out onto the road and head to The Dot. It take all of two minutes to get to the Dot. Once at the Dot Jay and Alex head inside and take a seat at their normal booth. Spinner, walks over to them.

Spinner: Can I take you order?
Jay: We both have Eggs, Bacon, toast and pancake with strawberry on top.
Alex: And two large Coffee.
Spinner: I bring your coffees right away it will take about three minutes for the food to be ready.
Jay: That fine Spinner.

Jay watches Alex as they eat breakfast. He can tell something bothering her, but knows better then to ask her about it. He is started to worry about her, seeing that it was her idea to come to The Dot to get some breakfast, before school and she hardly even touch her food. She has had several refill of coffee. He also notices Alex is begin to look a little flush.

Alex: Jay, can you take me home before you go to school?
Jay: Lexi, baby what wrong, you were starved when you ask to come to The Dot and you have hardly touch your food?
Alex: I am not sure Jay. I just lost my appetite and started to feel ache all over and I am also really cold.
Jay: Sure Lexi, I will take you home. Here took my jacket and put it on, baby!

Jay takes his jacket off and help Alex put the jacket on. He then wraps his right arm around her and the two of them walks up to the counter and Jay pays Spinner for their food.

Spinner: Was everything ok, because I notice Alex hardly touch her food?
Alex; Yeah, the food was great. I just lost my appetite right after I order it.
Spinner: That never good, you are not getting sick are you?
Alex: I hope not, I think I am just really tired is all.
Spinner: I would go home and not go to school.
Jay: I am going to take Alex home before coming to school.
Spinner: Ok, I will let the teacher know that when you and Alex were eat breakfast at the Dot she got really sick and you had to take her home.
Jay: Thanks Spinner.

Jay helps Alex back out to his car and open up the passenger’s door for her. Alex set down in the seat and lean it back. Jay puts Alex Seatbelt on for her. Then goes over to the drive side and gets behind the wheel. Before he start his car up, he looks over at Alex and notices she is Shivering. He starts his car and drive over to Emily, Chad and Alex apartment building. He pulls into the parking lot and pulls into a parking spot by the door to Alex building. He gets out of the car and goes over to Alex sides of the car and opens the door up for her. Alex slow gets out and puts her arm around her boyfriend. Jay warps his right arm around her. Then the two of them head inside and up the four flights of stairs to Alex apartment. When Alex gets the door open and the two of them start walking into the apartment the first thing they see is Emily laying on the floor with a stab wound to her right shoulder and that both her wrists and ankles are the size of watermelons and that Emily also has a huge cut on the top of her hand. Jay, then feel Alex go limp. He lifts her up and carries her over to the couch. He then runs over to Emily and check to see if she is breath and he found she is, but he cannot wake her up so he calls 911. He then sees Alex has set up on the couch and is looking over at her mom. She stares at Emily for about twenty second before put her hands over her mouth and run into the bathroom and close the door behind her.

Jay could hear his girlfriend getting sick in the bathroom, but was not sure if he should stay by Emily or go help Alex out. The EMT and the police come through the door of the apartment and the EMT goes over to Emily and start work on her. The police takes Jay aside to talk to him, But all Jay can really think of is his girlfriend, who still has not came out of the bathroom.

Police Office: Did you see what happened here?
Jay: No
Police office: Do you live here?
Jay: No
Police office: Then why are you here?
Jay: That My girlfriends mom, I was bring her back home because when we was at the Dot ate breakfast she get really sick.
Police office: And where is your girlfriend now?
Jay: The bathroom getting sick and she did not see what happened either she was crush at my place last night because her Mom’s boyfriend, got into a fight with her, before she went into work.
Police office: This is now a crime scene, so we have to ask you to go get her out of the bathroom and take her some place else.
Jay: Ok
EMT: We taking Miss. Nunez to the ER at St. Mary Hospital.
Jay: I driver Alex there so she can talk to her mom doctor.
EMT: OK, we are going now.

Jay walks up to the bathroom door and knock, but does not get any answers. He also doesn’t hear anything. He open the bathroom door to find Alex passes out on the bathroom floor. He runs up to his girlfriend and kneels down next to Alex and shakes her but she does not come, too. He feels her forehead and founds she has a fever. Thinking to himself, come to think of it she felt warm last night when we made love and get uncomfortable when I touch her stomach. He picks Alex up and carries her out to his car and set her onto the passenger’s seat. Alex starts to come to after having the chilling wind blow on her for a few seconds. She open her eyes and looks around and sees she in the passenger’s seat of Jays car and he is kneel outside her door stare at her.

Alex: My mom is she ok?
Jay: I am not sure Lexi. The EMT took her to St. Mary Hospital, I tell the EMT we meet them there.
Alex: Lets go Jay!
Jay: Baby, I am worry about you. What the last thing you remember hearing, seeing or doing?
Alex: I remember that I saw you dial 911 as I get up and run into the bathroom then start to get sick and then everything blocks out.
Jay: Because you pass out, Lexi
Alex: Jay, I need to check on my mom.
Jay: Fine

Jay stands up and closes the car door. He then walks over to the drive side of the car and gets in. He looks over at Alex before started the car and sees Alex is shriving, he reaches into his backseat and grabs one of the blankets he keeps in his car and then hands it to Alex. She lays the seat back then unfold the blanket and lays it over the top of her as Jay’s pulls out of the parking lot of the apartment building. On the ride to the hospital in Jay car Alex starts thinking to her self about how awful she has felt the last few days. I had bad cramp on Tuesday at lest that what I though it was, but I had already had her period this month. So I should not have had cramp again so soon and I also had a headache since Sunday night .I also had a slight cough, stuffed up noses since I got up this morning and now I have a sore throat. But I have no, idea why I start throwing up my stomach was not even upset when I walk into the apartment. See all that blood my mom lost and seeing her so beat-up most off cause me to get sick to my stomach. She then notices that Jay has just parked the car in St. Mary parking lot and he is looking very worried about her but also about her mom as well.

Jay: Lexi, Honey are you ready to go inside and check on you mom, I already be inside the doctor and nurse have Emily stable now and in an examined room, but will not tell me any more?
Lexi: Sure let go.

Jay’s get back out of the car and walks over to the passenger sides and he open the door up for his girlfriend. Alex turns around in the seat and puts her feet onto the ground. She tries to stand up but falls back down onto the seat. Jay’s helps her up and wraps his left arm around her waist. He then close the passenger side car door. He helps Alex walk from the parking lot into the ER. The doctor sees Jay walking in with his girlfriend and walks over to them.

Dr. Bell: Jay is this Emily Nunez daughter?
Jay: Yes, this is Alex Nunez.
Alex: Can you tell me how my mom is doing and what is wrong with her Dr. Bell.
Dr. Bell: Sure, But first let go into my office and set down.
Alex: That would be nice, can Jay come with me?
Dr. Bell: Sure.

Jay and Alex follow Dr. Bell into his office and once inside the office Jay and Alex takes a set on the couch that in the office. Dr. Bell takes a set in a chair across from then and open up Emily Nunez’s case file, he then looks over at Alex.

Dr. Bell: First off your mom has two broken wrists and to broken ankles and a smell cut on her hand. The x-ray and MRI to her right shoulder show no damage to the bone or to any of the major blood vessels.
Alex: Then can I go and see her?
Dr. Bell: Not right now she is talking to the police right now, because she is pressing charge against her boyfriend Chad for beat her up and stabbing her. There is something else you need to know, before I take the X-rays and MRI, I run a pregnancy test on your mom and it was positive.
Jay: The X-rays and MRI, will they hurt the baby?
Dr. Bell: No, the MRI or X-rays won’t hurt the baby.
Alex: How far along is she?
Dr. Bell: Around fourteen weeks.
Alex: Ah-Choo
Dr. Bell: Bless you!
Alex: Thanks
Dr. Bell: I also did an ultrasound on your mom and she is having triple, Alex!
Alex: How long does she need to stay in the hospital for?
Dr. Bell: For at lest four weeks.
Alex: Ok, can I please go and see my mom now?
Dr. Bell: All right, she is examined room number three.

Jay and Alex get up from the couch and Jay puts his right arm around Alex waists. Then the two off then walk down the hallway and go to examine room number three. Emily sees Alex and Jay walk towards the examined room and smiles at the two of them as they walk into the room. Jay walks Alex over to the chair next to her mom bed and helps her set down. Emily looks over at her daughter and knows right away she is not feeling good.

Alex: (Clears her throat.) Jay can you go to the pop machine and get me a Mt. Dew, because I am really thirsty?
Jay: Sure Lexi, I will be right back.

Jay kiss Alex on her forehead then walks back out of the room and down the hall to the pop machine, as he walking away he is thinking to him self. Alex fever has gone up in the last twenty minutes, she is now burning up. Alex takes a good look at her mom and takes in the cast on both her wrists and legs.

Alex: Chad really did it this time, you are not going to take him back this time are you Mom?
Emily: No, we are done, It’s not safe to have him around now that I am with children again. You finally going to be a big sister, Lexi.
Alex: Coughs, Yeah I am and you are having triples, but how are we going to afford three more mouth to feed mom and we will have to rent a house because the apartment is not big enough?
Emily: Lets not worry about that right now Lexi, I am more worry about you?

Just then Jay’s walks into the examined room and hand Alex her pop. She takes it from him and opens the bottle up and takes several sips before puts the cap back onto the bottle. Alex notices that both Emily and Jay are watching her very closely .

Alex: What I am just thirsty, Ah-Choo, is all.
Jay: I think, I should take you home to my house and get you to bed Lexi, you start to sound really bad.
Alex: No, I want to stay to they get my mom into, Ah-Choo, a room upstairs.
Emily: No, Lexi let Jay take you to his house. You need to take care of yourself and not get any sicker then you already are sweet.
Alex: Mom, I don’t want to leave, Ah-Choo, yet!
Emily: No, If and/or but. Jay taking you back to his mom place right now.
Alex: Fine, I am really tired and I do feel awful. I will come by and see you when I feel better mom.

Alex stands up and gives her mom a hug. Emily’s kiss her daughter’s forehead and then give her a look that say she is very worried about her.

Emily: Jay, when you get to your mom house take Lexi temperature, she feels really warm and if she still sounds this bad tomorrow take Lexi to the doctor, with her having Asthma I do not want the cold to got into her lungs.
Jay: I will Emily, don’t worry. I will not let Lexi, cold move into her lungs!

Jay helps Alex back out to his car and then he drives to his and his mom house. After only a minute of being in the car Alex has fallen to sleep. When Jay’s get home he pulls his car into the garage that has a connected door to the house so Alex will not have to go back out into the chill October air. He gets out of the car and walks over to the passenger sides and opens the door up. He picks Alex up and carries her into the house and upstairs to the guest’s bedroom and lays down onto the bedroom, she then pulls the cover over top of her. He then goes back out to his car and grabs his and Alex book bags and brings them inside.

As Jay, is sitting both his and Alex’s book bag onto the couch. His mom walks out of the kitchen and looks at him. He sees that she is carrying a sip cup full of Apple juice in her right hand.

Mrs. Hogart: Jason Michael Hogart, what are you doing home from school?
Jay: Lexi and I went to the dot for breakfast and during breakfast she got sick and ask me to take her home. So I drive her home, but when we get to her, Chad and Emily place. We find Emily laying unconscious on the floor with both of her ankle and wrist broken. Along with a stab wound to her right shoulder and a cut on her hand. When Lexi saw her mom like that it cause her to feel really nausea, so she runs into the bathroom and start getting sick and then end up passes out. I went to check on Emily, then call 911. Once the EMT took Emily to the hospital, I take Lexi, to check on her mom. Once Emily saw Lexi, she made me bring her over here, because they place is a crime scene right now.
Mrs. Hogart: That was fine, But I want you to go to school for the rest of the day.
Jay: No, I want to stay with Lexi.
Mrs. Hogart: No, go to three hour and also pick up your homework from second hour and pick up all of Lexi homework for today.
Jay: Fine, Lexi is a sleep in the guest room, can you take and put her Mt. Dew bottle on the night stand. Incase, she wakes up and is thirsty?
Mrs. Hogart: Sure Jay.
Jay: Oh and when she wakes up form her nap, have her check her temperature, because she feels really warm. Mom, why do you have a sip cup full of apple juices in your hand?
Mrs. Hogart: Kaylee stay home, because she has diarrhea again.
Jay: Kaylee has already missed fourteen days of school this year mom. How is she going to pass kindergarten, if she keeps miss school?
Mrs. Hogart: I have already talk with her teacher and she is going to drop off the activity sheets the class is work on, so I can do them with Kaylee.
Jay: Ok, I see you when school out this afternoon, but first I need a late note.
Mrs. Hogart: I will write you one.


Jay picks up his book bag from the couch as his mom is writing the note. Once his mom has handed him the note he heads into the garage and gets into his car. He pulls out of the garage and heads to school. Meanwhile, inside the house Kaylee walks out of her bedroom and looking around for her mom. Who told her she would be back upstairs in a few minutes, but has not come back upstairs yet or into her bedroom. She walks to the right and past the bathroom and to her mom’s bedroom and looks into the bedroom, but no one in there. She then walks down the hallway and looks into her brother bedroom but there no one in there. She hears someone cough in the guest room so she walks farther down the hallway. Insides the guest room Alex has set up in the bed and is blowing her nose into a tissue when a little girl with dirty blond hair and hazel eyes walks into the guest room and looks at her.

Alex: Kaylee sweet what is wrong?
Kaylee: Lexi, have you seen my mom?
Alex: No, but can I help you?
Kaylee: No.

Just then Mrs. Hogart walks into the guest room carrying a sip cup of apple juice and a twenty-oz bottle of Mt. Dew. She hands the sip cup to Kaylee and then sets the Mt. Dew bottle on the night stand. Mrs. Hogart then walks over and takes a set on the edge of the bed and feels Alex’s forehead with her right hand. Kaylee gets up onto the bed and start drinking her apple juice and is watching her mom take care of Alex.

Alex: I am still run warm right?
Mrs. Hogart: Yes Lexi, Jay tells me you are not feeling good, can you tell me what symptom you have?
Alex: (Sniffling) I am, Ah-Choo, ache all over, my head is all congested. I also have a sore throat and a dry cough. Lastly I have a really bad headache right over my eyes.
Mrs. Hogart: I am going to go into the main bathroom and get the thermometer, then I am going to come back in here and take your temperature.
Alex: Coughs, Ok.
Mrs. Hogart: Kaylee, come with me, you need to go back to your bedroom and get back into bed.
Kaylee: No, I want to stay here with Lexi!
Alex: Kaylee, you should go back to your bedroom, I do not want to give you what I have. I really can afford to catch what you have!
Kaylee: Ok

Kaylee hops off the bed she runs out of the guest room and take off down the hallway and goes into her bedroom. She crawls into her bed and finishes drink the last few sips of her apple juice then lay back down and goes to sleep. A minute later in the guest room, Alex has just put the thermometer into her mouth and she is waiting for it to beep, so she can take the thermometer out of her mouth and take a drink of her pop. Thirty second later it starts beeping and Mrs. Hogart takes the thermometer out of Alex’s mouth and looks at it.

Alex: Do I have a fever?
Mrs. Hogart: (Alex coughing) Yes, you have a fever of 39.8 C (103.8 F). I do believe that you have the flu Lexi
Alex: Yeah me to, great I hate, Ah-Choo, being sick.
Mrs. Hogart: Can I get you anything?
Alex: No, I am going to go back to sleep.
Mrs. Hogart: Ok, I will come and check in on you later.
Alex: Ok

Alex takes a sip of her pop then lays back down, as Mrs. Hogart walks out of the room and closes the bedroom door.

Alex wakes up two and half hours later and set up in bed. She pulls a tissue out of the tissue box and blows her nose. At the sometime starts having a cough fit. Once she stops coughing, she leans her head up against the headboard and she notices Kaylee standing at the doorway rubbing her eyes. Alex throws her used tissue into the small trash can that Mrs. Hogart had set by the bed when she had come into the guest room and check on her an hour ago. Alex grabs a new tissue and blows her nose another time, as she throws that tissue away. She notices that Kaylee is now holding her stomach and walk toward her.
