More games on linux will push companies to ship PCs with Linux on! Once you have signed, digg it! Digg - Help get native Linux support for Starcraft 2 ! There are other options on there like slashdot, use them to! - Encourage everyone to sign! |

| Level 37 Bureaucrat | I went to download the Starcraft 2 trailer earlier on today, and had to download - for some reason - an .exe file that installed a blizzard downloader app to download the movie, what's the point in that? Exes don't work on Linux as well :P Signed and dugg |

| Discussion starter | signed, not dugg.... Here's my issue. You'll never see this happen. Right now you've only got about 1% of the WoW subscriber base signed on the petition. Blizzard does NOT want the hassle of tech support, they have enough problems with supporting Windows. I don't see it happening, but I'm willing to sign. The blizzard downloader/installer is a piece of junk. It helps to lighten the load on their end, but makes patch day a nightmare. I love WoWwiki because it has lists for patch mirrors, and when 2.1 came out, I had it downloaded in about 5 mins vs probably 10 hours with the Blizz downloader had I continued it. Bittorrent is a great tool, but not for downloading updates when the program is closed after the download is done. That makes NO sense at all. |

| The thing is, Blizzard in WoW beta DID have a linux client. the management didn't want the linux client to be published, even though the coders did have one. That should tell you something about how easy it is to have a linux client, and how stubborn and stupid game companies' managements are. |

| *sigh* Online petitions are generally ignored by major companies, as it requires no effort to do and can generally be faked to have as many signatures as needed. The best thing for everyone to do is to take actual ink to actual paper -- write a letter, using real writing skills like the ones you learned in high school -- and send said letter to the company in an actual, physical envelope with your real name and address on the envelope. If a company gets enough of these letters, they will take notice. Online petitions are, sadly, worthless. I won't waste my time with any. |
