Default FIrefox 3.0 - whos using?

I recently checked for updates on my firefox extensions, but until now they were not compatible with ff 3.0.

I just can't stand missing these extensions, so i waited until now. Is there anybody else using the new version of firefox, and whats your experience? I haven't quite used it long enough to give a users review, but i have no doubt that the firefox team has made a great browser once again. At least it works, and it's not giving me a hard time.

Actually i installed the US english and danish dictionary while writing this thread. I restarted the browser to be able to use it, and the text i wrote in the composers window was still there after restart. Great!

Btw, the extensions i use is "Tab mix plus" for controlling the tabs options.
Adblock, yeah well maybe it's obvious what its for too
And a blackX skin

I'm missing some extensions too. It took a while for the del.icio.us one to come out.

Maybe you should give Adblock Plus a try, it's working and it's better anyway.

del.icio.us is a online bookmarking service of yahoo, the plugin, well should be clear now.

I gave version 3.0 another try after the official release a few days ago. I previously tried it as a beta a long time ago and had bad experiences. I lost a few extensions but updates for most have already since been released. The only serious issue I have been having is with Roboform since - I use hundreds of login passwords and keep most of them in Roboform as a time saver as I have come to trust its security over a long period of use. But again, this issue seems to be being worked out - some passwords have required re-entry, but thats not the end of the world.

On the plus side, I am seeing the speed improvement claimed I think, and I do like the interface improvements that I have noticed so far.

Hey Pkslot..
Well now do tell, is this the FF3 that came with the new Ubuntu up-date? because I as of yet have not installed it. I will save everything on my external HD and hope to transfer it back onto 804 again with hopes everything will work accordingly. Not sure I will be able to do that with pidgin, I have several programs that must be loaded onto the external drive. I need to find the time this month to up-date..

I'm not using 8.04, it's not supporting my nvidia card properly, so i'll stick with 7.10 for the next couple of months. I just fetched the ff3 file from the mozilla website, unpacked it and put it into my /home/pkslot folder. I made a drag and drop shortcut on my top panel, told it to be the default browser, and installed my jre and flash nonfree over again.

Yup, i have a different avatar

Hey Pkslot..
Well, my problem is..originally I installed Gutsy Gibbon on this pc and used AMD download instead of i386, which is in possession currently to the computer I use. Ok, so my graphic card.. same as yours NVIDIA from windows..anyhoo, it was slicing and dicing for months on this thing..here as of recent its working again..So I am totally hesitant to in-stalling 804 knowing there are problems with that particular card, and I dont have time to work this this thing now..

So I am putting 804 off for the moment..I have heard others aggravated with this particular complication..

Well why not install the proper version then?

The nVidia is not a Microsoft product at all, it's a brand of its own. My problem is, that my nVidia geforce nineteendiggetytwo is stoneage, it's got 128 mb ram only, but it's all that i need right now. But the version of X installed in Hardy Heron is just not compatible with my card. Oh yes i've tried everything, the ubuntu restricted drivers way, the eNVy way, with a fresh downloaded driverspack from nVidias website, and both on Ubuntu 8.04 and its deriviates Mint and Ubuntustudio.

But nothing works, so i'll stick with what's working now, even though it kinda sucks not to be able to join the 8.04 club ... , no just kidding, i like 7.10 just fine.

Hi Pkslot..
I too have only the 129 mb with Ge force and of course Ubuntu is using the generic brand to be useful. nVidia GeForce DDr ( generic ) < so you see my concern..I just dont have the time to fool with it and have issues, so I keep putting off re-installing the new Ubuntu. It will take a days work if my programs installed dont cooperate, as it is I must un-plug then plug my scanner back in everytime before Ubuntu reads x-sane at all. I will just have to set a day to the side..I hope my dinosaur keeps going, I think its a 2000 millenium original set up anyway..and or up-dated from 98. We only have had about 6 of these things since 98. One was donated to missionaries.

I put a new HD in this one back in 2000, so its been awhile. Then up-dated from Windows to Ubuntu 610 I believe it was. Now it has 710. So we shall have to see..

Always a delight. I didnt mind when I had the time..

Yeah, that's great, i found it too. I love this addon, so i waited for it to be released before i made the climb to ff3.0.

Back in the day when windows was still on my machine i used Avantbrowser and i got very happy with its tabs settings, and also its mouse gestures. I've hung on to the tab demands when making the switch to Firefox, and the tab mix plus addon is powerfull enough to make it work like i want it to.
