All my plugins work, and so do my extensions. My only problem is that every so often the whole thing stops responding and crashes. Although it hasn't happened in a while.

hmm, same here. I might use Epiphany for a while until that bug is ironed out

Yeah my old nvidia drivers were complaining about some modules being built in but I went and installed the latest nvidia drivers and it works fine. They'll probably have an update eventually or you can just go to nvidia's website. Until then use the driver "nv," the open source nvidia driver. It only has limited 3d support and really isn't all that good.

I'm using the nVidia 173.08 beta drivers, it's running really good! Tried out he ETQW demo, ran very smoothly on Hardy.

That's odd. I have not had a major issue with FF3. It was FF2 that kept crashing for me.

Hey try going to 4chan. Open up two boards as tabs in FF3 and click between them. Tell me if you notice that FF3 messes up. You have to scroll down and then back up for the page to be displayed, otherwise it seems like it's not being refreshed (graphically). This is the only problem I've had with it btw.

Hm. This is what it does to me when I switch tabs from 4chan's homepage to an image board.

It doesn't refresh even for applications overtop 4chan/b. I'm sure you've seen this happen with other applications, especially ones that are like lagging or forzen. Except that firefox is perfectly responsive it just doesn't update. It will fix itself if I scroll down and then back up.

Oh, ok. That is just a render issue. I have had that happen on a few other sites. I wouldn't worry about it. It is a cosmetic issue that they haven't fixed yet. They usually wont fix cosmetic issues until just before final release. Once FF5 final arrives it probably won't do that anymore. Until then get that mouse scroller working!

Thinking that WINE would enhance Hardy Heron and ease the transition to Linux, I received this message:

You have to add the public key.
Code:
wget -q http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/387EE263.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -

Kool, Sherri - I eventually got around to doing a clean install myself as I thought my problems where due to a previous version interfering with the upgrade (7.10) so I did a clean install for my Hardy Heron Kubuntu computer and my Hardy Heron Ubuntu computer (the Kubuntu PC is my main one) as its where I run my network from. It's really kool and the graphics are superlative and fresh

Hey Terabyte

Yep, this one tickles my fancy, so Ubuntu Hardy Heron it is. 8.04 is my main vein for computer action, I think I originally started with Edgy Eft. Its been refreshing to watch Linux increase, pretty cool for a free OS, no doubts about it.

Thumbs down Re: Hardy Heron

Hi Sherri,

It tickles your fancy eh? Whereabouts

I'm a bit low today cos my Mother-in-law died on Sunday last from a heart attack. Today we were at her house trying to clear her clothes and get them ready for the charity shops - I felt like I was looting her house, but it has to be done so we can sell the house. It is very depressing on top of losing the best friend and person I knew who acted more like my own mother than a mother in law. I've cried a few already...

I'm sorry for your loss tb. It's never easy to clean a house that still holds the soul of a loved one, i know the feeling. But as you say, it has to be done, and on the other hand, who else than the people who loved her, would be better to do the job.

Just make sure to remember who she was and what she stood for.

Again, i'm sorry for you, hope you're alright.

Yeah the Hardy Heron has proved itself to be an ok distribution. Actually i couldn't get it working properly before the 8.04.1 version, but now it works great.
