| Stirrer Of Shit | This may come as a huge shock, but I hate the waste of paper, and I try to keep my life as paperless as possible. But. I am preparing to transistion to a new career within a year, and I'll want to be able to print out resumes on the fly, as well as other stuff. Plus, the wife has been wanting one a long time, and the kids are beginning to need one too. So... I'm going to buy a printer. I don't want to have to spend too much on the printer, but I don't want to be swapping in $50 inkjet cartridges every ten sheets either. Laserjet. Any suggestions for an economical, Ubuntu/Linux friendly, laserjet printer? I prefer one I could plug into the router and hit from all my computers. |

| The Dalek Has Returned | canons are good, though I'm not sure if the're well supported by linux. My Hp Deskjet D1455 was recognised by mint though, it's about 80 dollars. I only had to enable it through the printing tab in my administration menu. not sure about the price of ink though. Note. Whatever you do, don't buy a lexmark. The ink is over $50 (it's something like $64) |

| check out lexmark, I think most are ubuntu friendly and I had one that Was the simplest cheapest printer on the market, worked perfect with ubuntu. I suggest lexmark because they are cheap to refill i believe. Be careful tho, some are just giant plastic turds so check out CNET.com, i usually do for the things i buy, not sure how good they do with printers tho. |

| The printer I have now doesn't work well with Ubuntu. It is a Lexmark Z12, which Ubuntu detected, but prints like crap. I am going to buy a new one soon though. Maybe check out OpenPrinting.org, it's a good site. |

| Don't get HP. I'm so done with them! I requested new and updated software for mine because Windows Vista won't take the disk that came with it. They sent the updated one, but it was friggen broken in 3 places!! I called them back to request another replacement disk, and now the woman that I spoke to wants to friggen charge me $15.00 for the replacement disk when they sent the first one for free!!!!! That's not right at all!!!!! |
