Default Linux Mint

Are there any Linux mint users out there? I recently installed it on a friend's computer, and thought it provided a better out of the box experience than Ubuntu did, which ,I note, is what it tries to do.

I make some stickers too.
Is this place dead yet?...

it was good a couple versions back, but its trying to reinvent too many things for no reason and failing at them lately, itll be gone in a couple of years tbh.

I looked at their website, I think they might have something going for them. I don't know much about the distro though. I just like what they're attempting to do. It'd be a shame if they aren't successful.

i was there from the beginning i wrote the app that inspired "mintdesktop"
it looked promising in the beginning, but the last couple of versions made some bad decisions, (the inclusion of beagle by default and the mintupdate applet for example) it no longer offers anything over vanilla ubuntu for me other than codecs.

linux mint - Google Search

Lol /sarcasm I guess you've never tried Linux before. When you install a Linux distro you download what's known as an ISO which you burn to a CD or DVD w/ an ISO burning program. You probably want gnome main edition,

Linux Mint

They also have KDE. They're like two different desktops. Linux mint primarily supports gnome and you can install KDE after installed the main Linux mint. I recommend doing that to see if you like gnome or KDE better. XFCE4 is also a good choice, especially for low-end systems (though I personally like it even for modern computers).
