Angry Windows, go home and die!!

YYYAAAAAAARRRRRGHH

I was working in flash, doing some really, REALLY boring work and suddenly flash decides to crash. Of course had not saved in two hours and I just found out that flash has no autosave feature.

Now I am in a real bad mood

Does Windows really have a home?

That sucks man, I wish you good luck on trying to recover it. A lesson is to be learned here...save often (preferably on a different OS)

No, Window$ doesn't have ahome, thats why Billy G tried to persuade us to spend our hard-earned $$$ on Window$, it's a charity, a very greedy charity, and i havent seen the good works of this charity. So i now use an OS that isn't a charity, that doesn't try to trick me out of money by crashing, re-booting etc. I use Mac OS X, and Linux.

I enjoyed answering yes to: "Are you sure you want to format the drive: "WINDOWS" to linux ext3?"

I have never looked back.

We need more developers to start using linux' version of .msi - .deb. installs and the like are what scare Joe Regular User from breaking the *ahem* Windows to his prison and installing open source.

Windows Prison Break?

But anyway, there are lots of DEBs out there, and sites like GetDeb - Ubuntu Software Portal - More applications, easy to install that carry them, but it isn't really a solution. The software provider will still have to make packages for OpenSUSE, UBuntu(and possibly Debian too), Mandriva, Fedora, Slackware, and possibly others. Not really a solution :/ Ah well,...

This sounds more like the fault of the end user for not saving their work, and not a fault of the OS. If anything, it's Adobe's fault for making Flash a faulty product.

I say we blame Windows and anything that runs on it. Because Windows starts the problem and then concomitant software developers continue it by making things that run only on Windows.

Sorry to hear about the lost work, I have had similar things happen before. Good luck.

If a webmail client (GMail) can autosave when you're writing an e-mail, Adobe definitely should've added autosaving in Flash(maybe it's there but you haven't turned it on?)

Okay, so then why is this thread about Windows going home to die? It's obviously about Adobe and their substandard products.

And come to think of it, a number of Microsoft products, like OneNote, have auto-save enabled by default. Maybe they aren't so evil after all.

Ctrl+S. I hit it everytime I make a minor change on anything. You shouldn't really be relying on autosave, it doesn't always save at the point you'd like it to.

That is excactly one of the worst things about flash: it does not have a autosave feature. You would think a program of that quality had one. But I found out the hard way

Nice spelling, maybe you should change all your text to be like that?

Anyway, Microsoft is coming with its own Flash replacement ; Silverlight. The great thing is, the Mono team is making an OFFICIAL port for Linux, so whoever wins,Flash or Silverlight, it doesn't matter (Both Adobe and Microsoft are too evil)

Microsoft and Adobe are companies. All companies are like that. It's not evil it's business. The government is voted into power to preserve the interest of their voters. Companies are created to make money for their shareholders. When the interests of the shareholders conflict with the interests of the people then we've got a problem. That's where law and government should come to the aid of the people and protect their interests.
