Default So, what did you guys think of the recent updates to the iMac line?

So, I'm sure you've at least seen SOMETHING about the more recent updates to the iMac, iLife, iWork, and .mac lines. What do you guys think?

I'm just happy that they decided to upgrade the little Mini and keep it in the line a while longer. It's one really cute little box. I have Linux Mint running on one

I've got to admit that I use Macs everyday at work and now that I'm administering the network from my macbook pro I use OS X at home as well. I still have a soft spot for and keep an eye on Linux, but Macs are sweet

The 10.5 release will be a major event. The initial pre-release stuff is mind blowing (or will be for the masses who've never seen things like compiz).

Hopefully it wont be a miserable failure to add to Apples number of failures.

The G4 Cube,

The Apple Lisa,

The Apple Pippin,

The apple IIE(Heat problems that caused it to cook an egg)

Macintosh TV (not appleTV though thats still a failure in my minds eye).

Apple Newton (blackberry and PDA before it was popular)

And that horrid apple Puck Mouse.

I consider the iMac to already be a pretty large success for Apple. So, not sure what you're on about :P

the G4 was a success, despite the cube's existence aftward..

The Imac could do the same, and I wouldnt really call the first TubeTV modeled Imacs a success either (the looked cheap as hell, and if you had to have the fixed, and there were a few of those, it wasnt a cheap date, and took a long while).

Yeah, but the G4 Cube is kind of a big change, rather than incremental. This was an upgrade, the Cube was an entirely new product.

Apple Mac, something I always think I should like. They look lovely, now that they are PC's they run nice and fast (still not sure what the fascination is with ATI but you can't have everything) They are seriously over priced! They are running Unix so I shouldn't really complain... I have never really used one given how damn expensive that are but I often recommend them to people that ask, you know the ones, grannies and the technically inept... You hear great stories on how easy it is to get things done. Computer for people that need to get on without the looking under the hood. Twist and go scooter, rather than greasy motorbike. A "tool" to get the job done rather than a tinker's hobby. For me half of the fun is getting under the hood and having a fiddle about. but I guess that's why I run Linux...

Good point, well made LOL

But you must admit that there is a difference between, "fiddling" and open heart surgery. My first go with Linux many years ago with one of the very early SUSE's was like pulling teeth. Learn Linux in 24 hours the book said! Had a disk tucked in the back cover... Damn that was tough going.

not to be OT, but.....

I tried to play with Suse 8.0 (after being a diehard slackware nerd for a LONG Time) and even it confused and irritated me.

I think I want one! Ok, so maybe not really. What i really want is a macbook.. my aunt brought one from cali and boy was it pretty! The thoughts of dual-booting mac osx and ubuntu. Ahhh how fun would that be???

But ,back to reality... I'll not have one. Not for a good long while yet.. but I can dream!!

If I had the cash one would be mine. Not sure what I would do with it... Put it on a pedestal and worship I supposes.

I agree the thing is gorgeous, i can't believe it's just that one single piece of machine. Apple is soo good at simplifying tech for us!

They keyboard looks like one of the most exciting updates. It seems FAR more ergonomic and safe to use than existing keyboards.
