| Drank to much Mountain Dew | Excactly right! And why should you pay for crap? I use Windows a lot of the time, but I am not using it because I think it is a good OS. I use it because I am forced too to be able to express some of my creativity. But I have no objection by using it. Because I never have and never will pay for it. Because it is crap! And when something is crap, I have a obligation not to pay for it! Last edited by lakersforce : 05-30-2007 at 05:29 AM. |

| I have no objection to software for profit; my complaint would be the basic fraud of "selling" software and then telling the buyers what they can and can't do with it. It's like I would sell you a car, but refuse to turn over the keys, saying, "I'll let you use it anytime you want. All you have to do is ask." I recently installed my copy of M$Office on a new computer. The other day, when I opened it, I got this message: Microsoft Office will only open 45 more times unless you register it. In other words, even though I paid full price for it, I have to report my installation to headquarters or lose the use of the product. So, did I buy this software? did I really? Or did I rent it? |

| If you don't accept it, you can return it and get a refund. If they won't let you, take them to small claims court. It works. The only real exception is a bundle, like if the software came bundled with the computer, you can't simply return the software. Most times, you must return the hardware as well. |

| This is real! Some people have already succeeded. It is possible to avoid the so-called microsoft tax/windows tax! Here are some links: WindowsRefund.info :: Get your refund (english) Linux.com | How to get a Windows tax refund(english) Détaxe.org - Accueil du site(french) I also fell on a world map of where people managed to get windows refunds, but I can't find it anymore. |

| Drank to much Mountain Dew | True. I saw something similar in the documentary "Revolution OS". As part of the movie they portrait some demonstrators obsessed with getting a refund for the OEM copy of Windows bundled with their computers. At first Microsoft said it was the computer vendor who should give them their money back and the computer vendor asid that it was Microsoft. After a demonstration and smearing of Microsoft in the press, they actually succeded in getting their money back, which of course were their legal entitled right right from the start. |
