Matthew Garrets' analysis may or may not be correct . It is after all his view point , for which he is most certainly entitled . I have yet to decide how I feel.

However what I do believe is , Linux , Ubuntu etc is about freedom of choice. Freedom to put on and use on YOUR computer what YOU want when and how YOU want it.

Automatix is about that freedom of choice as well.

So if someone wishes to use Automatix then that is their freedom to do so.

What is needed however , is emotion free , neutral information that allows the user to make an informed decision about it.

I also beileve that the for and against camps need to step back and allow that neutral information to come to the fore and allow the informed decision to be made.
I think you hit the nail on the head. That's always been my view on it. If people want to use it so what? It's their choice.

The whole point of AX is to install apps that Ubuntu isn't ALLOWED to include. If you choose to use these apps, then why write the scripts yourself, or go to 10 different websites to get them one at a time. I'm with The Corruptor. I'm lazy too.
