Default Fit-to-content

Why has no one implemented fit-to-content like on OSX for either Windows or Linux at this point? Do people just not see the point to this UI feature?

I am currently using a dual monitor setup and I love it. I'd prefer, however, to go to one huge screen with the same kind of real estate, only, I don't want to constantly resize windows to fit the screen appropriately. Let's be honest-- no one needs a webpage open across a 24" or 30" display, or even a 20" display. Now that monitors are much cheaper at larger sizes, will someone come to the conclusion that fit-to-content is a feature worth implementing?
