I started with Mandrake ages ago, then I tried out fedora, and then I tried slackware, and in between all of that I fiddled with distros like damn small linux and such, Now I use ubuntu, but if I was to choose a distro other than ubuntu I would go with slackware again.

| Commentator | Lets see... Linux Mandrake & Red Hat were my first, followed by Slackware (which I liked a lot), and then College linux (basicly slackware tweaked for college students, basicly bundled with a few games and open office etc)... and now Ubuntu, which I absolutely adore!! ![]() |

Started with Red Hat 6.0, then some Mandrake (the club thing drove me away), then Debian (unstable) and now Ubuntu. OpenBSD on sparc 5 hardware. Live cd's of Knoppix, DSL and Fiesty are in my laptop's case.

I just installed DesktopBSD (FreeBSD) and I had never tried a BSD before, only Linux and Windows. I am very disappointed that Linux has become so political and that is why I am trying something new.

Red Hat, Mandrake/Mandriva, Fedora Core, Ubuntu, ArchLinux (that's what I'm using atm and I consider it the fastest, up-to-date etc). Ubuntu was cool, but too slow and installing/upgrading ATI drivers was always a b*tch. Peace.

-Red Hat 7.3-9: My teacher introduced me to Linux with this distro. -KNOPPIX 3.8-5.1.1: I use this mainly to recover files from Windows installations. -DSL 1.0.1-3.0: I used this on my old Compaq Presario 1200 laptop for a while, but I lost interest in it once I gave the laptop to my cousin. -Fedora 3-7: My teacher forced me to use FC3 for my Linux class, but it was a pain adding repos to get MP3 support. I used FC4 on an old computer (now scrap), but I had the same problem as FC3. I used FC5 and FC6 in a virtual machine, and they were much better than earlier versions. Fedora 7 is good, but some of my favorite FOSS games like lbreakout2 are not in the official repo. -Debian Etch: I used this in my Web server class for a project, while everyone else used Windows Server 2003. One of my favorites. -Ubuntu Hoary-Feisty: I first used Hoary in a virtual machine, and I liked it a lot. I dedicated one of my machines to use it once Breezy was released. Now it's my main distro. -(open)SUSE 10.0-10.2 -Mandriva 2006-2007 -Slackware 11.0-12.0 -Countless live CDs -Xandros: I abhor this one. The "Xandros Networks" package manager frontend nagged me to get a subscription to get K3b, Amarok, and game demos. Not using because of agreement with Microsoft. -Linspire/Freespire: I had a lot of problems with CNR. Not very customizable. Not using because of agreement with Microsoft.

I've run Ubuntu 6.06, Lindows/Linspire 4.0 and 4.5, and Knoppix...something. I think it was three. I think I'm the happiest with Ubuntu.
