| All those on the list. Ubuntu is the best so far. Used Unix and VMS at work first. Around 1992 got a copy of 386BSD on about 30 or 40 floppy disks. Slackware and Yggdrasil Linux were my first Linux distros. Too many to remember or list in between those and Feisty. |

| Ubuntu God | My first linux distro was Ubuntu, and i love it. Nothing better. Ubuntu has to be the best byfar, because it is different than other linux distros. Other distros are basically for computer people, while if a comp-n00b we're to use it...well it would probably be like a Windows Alternative. Dont really know how to explain it....hopefully you guys get my point ![]() |

| Interested participant | Other distros I've tried is DragonBSD, FreeSpire, XanderOS.. But of all the distro's I've tried out I prefer Ubuntu GNU/Linux which I first tried in 2005. I run Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn on all my computers, desktops as well as servers. Running both the server and desktop editions makes it easy to maintain both in my oppinion. Have a wonderfull day |

| First tried Linux with Mandriva, then Fedora Core 5, then Ubuntu (6.06, 6.10 & 7.04) both on my laptop and server. I also use Fedora Core 6 at uni. Oh, and can't forget Smoothwall & Clarkconnect, although they're not much of a desktop OS ![]() |

| Stirrer Of Shit | I've been trying Linux off and on since the mid-90s. Ubuntu is my latest try, and I'm loving it. I don't think I need to look further. I remember when it was a pain in the neck just to get the network card going. |

| Commentator | ho hum Where to start? I started with Caldera Linux 1.3 Then Redhat 6.0 (ugh!) Then Slackware 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 Changed briefly to Mandrake Linux. Then Back to Slackware 10, 10.1 The Ubuntu Breezy (5.10), and Ubuntu Dapper (6.04). Then Zenwalk Linux 2.6, 3.0, 4.0, 4.2, 4.4.1 , which is where I currently am. |

| A group of hackers told me Debian was the uber Linux, so thats where I started. Since then, I've tried Fedora, Ubuntu, openSUSE, and toyed with Gentoo and FreeBSD. I feel strangely experienced with Linux now, and a bit bored of it, although I still really want to see what RHEL and SLED are like. |

Imho it's a really decent OS but can't be compared to other linux flavours any more. But just try it and see for youself. | |

| Yes you can use SLED free for 4 Months. I like SLED a lot its much nicer that Open SUSE but the big issue is there are hardly any repositories. Other than its a lovely distro. Hence I am now a big Ubuntu fan due to the repositories. It is well worth trying out though. Helen |
