Default Second Life - Linux Client available

The Linux client for Second Life is available. Anyone play it with or without the Linux client?

Wow. You could call that old news. Have you been living under a rock?

I have only tried Second Life on the Linux client, so I really don't know the differences. Streamming video does not work in-game.

If you call not keeping up on the minute by minute news about Second Life "living under a rock," yes.

Last I checked was three months ago and nothing has changed since then, so if you call three months "minute by minute news"...

i tried the beta a year ago or so ... it was still very buggy ...

i might give it another go if it's stable now.

well, it seems to work ok on my laptop with 500mb of ram with desktop effects disabled. i've never tried on windows so i can't compare.

now if i could find something interesting to do with it ... flying around gets boring after a while ...

maybe we should start a socialdiscussion island ... or an asylum ...

While it's a bit old news, I also knew about this much later than anyone else
I tried an old version on my PC once, when I had real internet then. It was good, but an online MySpace isn't for me. I can't try it now, no internet to try it out :/

I had a look at it, and I just don't get it. Why make such an elaborate chat room? What is wrong with text? Are people afraid of simple things and have to have 3D graphics for every application?

I can just see it now '3D Calculator', where you are a man and you have to walk to each button to enter your calculations. '3D Email client' where each email is a room and you have to enter it and sit down to read it.

Without true immersive virtual reality it just seems like a waste

I tried it when it first came out and had issues. I prefer WoW, even if I have to with idiotic teenagers who don't know that it's just a game LOL.

Second Life has potential, I'm just not sure if it's going to be worth it at all.

Just check IMVU for more frustration then

You're right though, not every type of Game/Application needs to be in 3D.
