I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree there. Vista might have been something great, had they finished the product before dumping it on shelves and installing it into all new systems. Want to know why I say that? I'll tell you: helped a friend set up their new system (they were having trouble finding where the keyboard plugged in) and the damn thing crashed during setup.

But I have to admit... "blue screen of death" is such a lovely shade.

Well,
although i use Ubuntu; i prefer to keep a dual boot.
Obviously, Ubuntu comes up as a more clean and efficient system, when compared to the drags on Windows.

I have a friend who just recently upgraded from XP, and they love it from top to bottom. Really, besides your crashes (did you even try to fix it?) what else can you "hate" about Vista?

Linux (Ubuntu) all the way. I still use Windows but that is because I have to support it at work.

Personally I use *nix most of the time, however I usually don't go batsh*t crazy if others choose otherwise. I am not afraid to use other operating systems if forced to. It really bugs me how some people vehemently "suggest" (although it seems more like they coerce others). I believe if you like the freedom to choose you should learn to respect other people's choices as well.

Who says that all mac owners are smug assholes? Is it because while your around fucking up your computer trying to install something, they are having fun using theirs? (oh yes i did)

Anyways, OS X to me seems like a more 'finished' os for me. Vista is too unstable, and XP has too many virusus (virii?). Linux is fun to screw around with, but i'd rather have a dependable machine and a machine to jack around with.

Its like having a day-to-day car and a modified race car. The race car aint practical for day to day use. The day to day car is not practical for racing. It all depends on what your doing with your machines.

Windows. I've never had an issue that wasn't brought about by myself doing something stupid. The last time I experience a BSOD was probably around 2000. I'm still fairly new to the whole Linux scene so I'm pretty much using it to learn and have fun it's nice to be able to be in 100% control of your system, but it's a pain to get everything compatible. I used Apples all through elementary and middle school and never liked them. OSX just hasn't really struck me as a serious system (if that makes sense).

My favourite OS is Linux. Like many other people I like the security, the price and the ideology of open source software. I definitely can't identify with Microsoft's strategies but holding a monopoly is probably not as bad as the mischief being done in other branches, especially in the production of goods.

So I would rather not call myself a militant OSS fan.

Can you really group Unix and Linux? Linux isn't actually based on Unix even though there are similarities
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ory-simple.svg

Up until a couple of days ago I would have said Ubuntu/Linux, but I'm getting fed up with my games and devices not working so I might just nuke the ol' hard drive and run de facto Vista or XP!

hysterical woman: "won't somebody please think of the children?!"

'Favourite' at the moment and last two years would be Ubuntu linux, just because it does all that I need to do, including the games I actually want to play (Guild Wars and WoW in particular).

Favourite all time OS would probably be (rose tinted glasses time) AmigaOS, I think I just passed time on windows when amiga died and linux came of age.

i voted for linux.

strictly speaking, Mac OS X should be in with the other *nix's. its based on FreeBSD, and both that and linux are variations of unix.

Same. I used Mandriva for about a month, then I made the transition to Ubuntu.

I use OS X extensively at work and consequently it has pervaded my home use as well, for convenience more than anything. I guess it's also my favourite OS, but Linux comes a close second.

I voted for Linux even if it is pissing me off at the moment. My seconded would be Vista. My pc with Vista has not crashed since I bought it. The pc with Ubuntu has crashed about once a day since the last auto update, and Flash and Firefox have decided not to play together anymore. So maybe in a few days I might change my mind.

*I used google and read some stuff (very shocking I know), and fixed my problem. So I am a happy Linux user again. hmm until next time*

Linux (Mandriva and Ubuntu), and if I HAVE TO use a propreitary OS, then it's OS X. Always choose the lesser evil

Linux, of course Presently Debian, though I've been switching off between it and Kubuntu for the last couple years.
