I think it does, but not in the tech side of the computer industry. You would have to look among investing, marketing and accounting people.

When it comes to "Cult" like behavior I think we need to look a little closer to home. The evangelical nature of the Linux fanboy, the infighting of the different sects of the "distro"

I wouldn't Microsoft has a cult, but it does have a strong base of supporters amongst developers and administrators. I call it "IT Stockholm Syndrome" - plenty of people in IT have learnt to rationalise supporting Microsoft and ignore the downsides.

Supporting MS is low-risk (everybody does it, so you aren't held responsible if it doesn't work out), easier (less demanding), and has guaranteed rewards (big market for jobs and services). Using non-Microsoft stuff in Microsoft-dominated environments is risky, more work, and puts you in opposition to the Microsoft supporters. Basically, cooperation is rewarded, dissent is punished

I'd say that generally a cult has to be for something different to the norm and as Microsoft is 'the norm' it won't have the same effect.

Microsoft is what everybody thinks IS the computer company, so it wouldn't exactly have a cult, but the Mac/Linux people aren't the average, and so they have a cult.

So far as I'm concerned, Microsoft couldn't pay us to take that company over. Our team is too good for a company that puts the burden of its philanthropical thought on one actually decent dude, Bill Gates.

Our company hopes to be an "Open Source Company" that is "Automatic for the people" instead of for the company.

Check us out. Welcome to GravityWay!

We are real.

Hail the two prophets of Linux, the great saint Linus Torvalds from the cold freezing mountains and the other bearded saint Richard Stallman from the grassy planes. Both of these met, and created the biggest ,and best religion in the world.Whose members are united by their common hatreds of M$ and closed source. Yes, we must bless Linux and all its ideals! HAIL linux, HAIL linux(prays to a golden "tux").
