| Just getting started | I'm thinking about buying a sound card for my laptop. I recently purchased the Logitech Z-5500 speakers and I'm looking for a pretty good sound card to drive them. Right now I'm looking at the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX external sound card. Does anyone have any experience with this card? I'm looking for info about sound quality, durability, and linux functionality. Suggestions for other external sound cards are also welcome. Thanks for any info you can give me. |

| From what I can remember the NX 2 doesn't work well with Linux--but this was a few years ago. I should try finding it and trying it with Feisty... Sound quality is great on Windows. It's probably one of the better external solutions out there, but I've pretty much given up on external sound cards for laptops. It's just not worth it unless you leave your laptop on your desk all day, at which point you should just get a desktop with a nice internal card. |
