Heh, my mom is still getting used to the fact that my sister, her baby, is graduating this week. Then she's off to OKCU.

I'm just not college material I guess. Someday it's gonna bite me in the ass, sooner than later. But I have the student loans to prove I went to college!

I'm thinking CS+philosophy+politics... Perhaps a joint-honours in philosophy and CS. I'd like something useful and scientific from my degree but something that also interests me.

I'm not going to university simply to get the qualifications for a high-paying job, I'm going because i don't know what I want to do yet . I have friends that have actually worked out how much they're likely to earn by age 30 from various apprenticeships and university courses. They're obsessed with earning slightly more money... and they're only 16/17!

I agree with you on that point. I came in with that sort of mindset, looking at what would make the most money. Then while in college (I'm entering my senior year in September) I realized that it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. For most people, just graduating from college will mean that you will be fine financially in the end no matter what your degree is in. It is much more important to find something that you want to do for the next 40-50 years of your life.

Really? Where from? What was/is your field of specialty? I'm interested because I am just beginning a math doctorate program.

Just finished up two years at Brown. Two more to go before I get my Chem degree.

A friend of mine that I knew fairly well goes to Brown. I believe he might be a senior this year though.

It only took me 25 years to get mine (University of Michigan class of 2003).

Of course, some other stuff happened along the way....

Wow, you guys are too old... I'm still gonna go to college in 2 yrs. But I haven't decided yet which College to go to. I wish i could take a scholarship to another foreign country(but I guess the chances of that are very very very low )
