| Re: How About That Free Will? Ok..where is that noose..I am sure it will be wrung around my neck..
If it is Dichotomized, (free will)..wouldnt that be more instinctive? by nature? determinism re-creates a new desire in what it is your determined to do, rather right or wrong..< to me that too is instinctive..who deciphers that part in your life? where do your convictions derive from? what possess you to make a right from wrong decision?
When your a child and begin to stray, one hopes the authoritative figure ( mom and dad ) have correctly implanted in your brain as to how to make a right choice..otherwise corporal punishment applies, although almost unheard of these days . So your determinism is somewhat still dictated. Thats a force of will, inconspicuously embedded in your gut..You feel the wrongful action..you therefore comply.
When your an adult..what stops you then from screwing up and wrecking your life?. Determinism rather right or wrong..is more of a force of habit..maybe even a force of ignorance by sheer pride. Something has to move you into that arena of final decision making..One has to be aware of possible consequences that follow. When that happens..what then? is it common sense to know the wrong choice follows? of course..moreover..who are you listening to in order that you might hear a correct matter of decision making? not mom and dad..surely..now its instinction. However,,with myself..and getting to know the bible..< as in original thread..this taught me to make decisions that indeed have consequences yet extremely beneficial.
Attending church and practicing the law of the word..re-directed my free will, as now I still have it..but I have conviction to the choices I now make. It is ultimately my choice in the end..thus ( free will ) but there are consequences to follow as now I have chose to live beyond human nature..to serve a God who can teach me out of his permissive will..and allows me to make right or wrong decisions,,and to learn by them.
That is the bottom line motive I am looking for in here..what is ultimately creating that last minute decision..conviction of wrong..I am not talking about human behavior..I dont eat ice cream because it makes me fat..and or bad for my health..and or whatever..
I am talking from a different perspective. For those of you who do not practice spirituality what I am saying here is nonsense..and you can debate it all you want..but unless you have discovered from the heart ( Godly incentives and biblical direction..then your free will is self determination..thats the dangerous part about free will..it is then not submitted under the power of Christ..I mean after all he is only out to give you life after death..and if he gets you there quicker..to a form of life you do not have a clue of..yet vast in all its precepts biblically, then why all the questions..I keep telling you its very simple..
Matthew 11:25 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Rest for the Weary
At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
