I agree with you and Kev. Huckabee is more charismatic but could never get anywhere near a nomination because he is insanely religious and I don't think the majority of the country wants someone who was once a pastor and claiming God as a political adviser in office.

On the other hand I will give it to McCain he does have a few good ideas (this coming from a liberal?). It is just the case that the combination of past problems in the party, his allegience to and similar policies to Bush (even if he continues to claim eitherwise, most of his issues are pretty similar), the fact that he seems to want to do nothing about the economy (remain neutral) at a time when it's bad, and his own political follies like controversies that surrounded some of his endorsements. Unlike Obama who seems to be coming away with stronger numbers from his pastor's endorsement and subsequent controversy, McCain has lost some ground.

I guess for McCain, having the Democrats still duking it out while he soaks up rays, meets with Bush, and takes it easy is having a slight effect (very small but negative) on his campain. He keeps trying to jump in whenever the Democrats bring up a controversial issue, but he just looks like an idiot (at least to me) when he does. I think he would be one better to just stay out of it until Obama or Clinton get the nomination.
