It might, but Transmission has few features. uTorrent on Windows and Linux both use very little resources. I don't own anything newer than a System 7 Mac so I don't know how well uTorrent works on there, but I've heard it's pretty good.
I have plenty of RAM and like the layout/features of Azureus, so that's what I generally use. It is pretty bad though if you don't have a decent amount of RAM installed, which is most pre-built systems and many first and second builds.
