I live in Saarbrücken...
If one takes his bike and rides a little up the river towards France there are some nice beaches where people swim, and fishing isn't that much directly in the city, because there is the autobahn and with it comes the noise which scares the fish.
Again, up or down the river without all the noise fishing is very popular.
