I don't know. I think we westerners have forgotten what human strength can accomplish. How would you lift a truck to work on it? With a jack, right? I took a trip to Ghana a few years ago, and they just gathered 20 guys around the truck and picked the damn thing up. It startled me. I didn't think a group of men could lift a truck, but it really didn't even look like they were struggling. I think you might be surprised at how much a determined group of people could accomplish.
I don't see the world moving in a strict circular pattern. More like a wave-like pattern with an overall advancement. Environmental destruction is on the verge of throwing our technological advances backwards a bit, but I think we'll deal with the problem and then move forward. There have been advanced societies before, but never like what we have now. If there was, there would be evidence left behind. Think about it. How many millions of years would it take for all traces of our society to disappear?
