I can't stand nasal lavages. They hurt WAAAAY too much. Maybe my sinuses are too raw from the allergies, asthma, and former huffing habit I had when I was 13-15? Even plain water burns. I also have a hell of a time using nasal sprays for allergies, as a commonly used ingredient, rose hips, is another allergen of mine. :/ |
plain water is horrible (it apparently gets absorbed into the tissue, making the swelling worse). try doing the nasal lavages a couple of days in a row and you might see it gets better and easier as they clean out your sinuses. you could cut down on the salt, but i don't think you're supposed to go below a quarter teaspoon to one cup water (i think that's the same salinity (is that a word?) as mucous). using nasal lavages, i've been able to stop using steroid sinus sprays, which i've used for over twenty years.
