Welcome to the forums
Started looking for alternatives because my xp installation was getting seriously slow. And I didn't want a reinstall when I knew things just would be the same after some time. The registry and the hidden files are a drag + all the processor hog with antivirus, spyware checker etc. Installed ubuntu hoary hedgehog on a small disc I had around. And everything was going so much faster. Started slowly to only use ubuntu. Now I have one really small xp partition for playing some games rarely. The rest of my 760 gigs of space is for superior filesystems (ext3, jfs, xfs, reiserfs etc.) and linux distros. Defragment disks

, what is that... Heard something about it. Is it cool?
Now I have tried a lot of different distros and I'm loving the freedom it gives me. But I always come back to ubuntu, because the community is great. And we are getting a lot of new users because of vista and many people are fed up with ms business strategy and lockin. We can not have one company dictate the entire desktop market.
