It's just a medium of delivery. There's no particular draw to it. People generally just like the stories and characters.
It's not for everybody. You may or may not like audiobooks or concrete poetry or black and white movies, just as you may or may not like anime.

Ick! DVDs are cheap now. rightstuf.com is running a sale right now where 10 Geneon DVDs are $50 and 25 are $100. Gungrave and R.O.D. the TV are sure bets. It feels really nice to be able to watch it from DVD on a larger screen and support the studios...
