I'm not paranoid. I never have the feeling something bad is going to happen, I just like to be able to see what is going on, who is coming and going, and know I can leave the theatre in a hurry if I have to.

I'll let someone else comment on your obsession with Japanese stuff. I like the Japanese myself, but not because of their cartoons.
