Re: Racism:Do you beleive it's still present in our society? I've been intrigued by this thread. So much of what has been written is not racism at all, but complaints about the affects and consequences of racism. Besides the two mixed marriage posts, not one has been actual racists stories. Instead it is mainly about reverse racism. How many people here have been pulled over 5 times this week, for no apparent reason. Well, that happens quite frequently to black people. How many members of your family or race have gone without being able to get a job, even though you are qualified for it? Don't tell me it doesn't happen either. I know it does because I watched it happen to people of color and females while I worked for a major corporation.
I am lucky that I am white only because I have not had to suffer those injustices. And my ability to have avoided that has certainly skewed my sense of reality within my community. The world is neither big nor small, but I find myself either shrinking it or bloating it to fit me. The problem is, reality still takes place, like it or not...And that is racism..
