Another memorable death scene comes from Braveheart (no, I'm not talking about Wallace being hung, drawn and quartered, but that's on the list.)

In Braveheart, several Scottish noblemen betray William Wallace, withholding cavalry at the worst moment, causing Wallace and his men to lose in battle. Afterwards, one of them is asleep, dreaming, and he has a nightmare about Wallace coming for him. Just when Wallace is about to kill him, he wakes up. He's in a cold sweat, getting his bearings, thinking "Oh, it's just a dream."

And then William Wallace bursts into his bedroom, on a horse. He pulls out this huge flail, and smashes his skull in like a melon.

I'd classify that as a pretty freaky death...
