(I posted this on Ubuntu Forums, but I'd also like a wider response...)

I've been a satisfied user of an Intel D865-GLC main board for the past 4 years or so...but now I'm getting the urge to upgrade (Core 2 Duo, faster memory & bus speeds, that sort of thing). I've tried to find a forum, discussion, something at Intel's site that would provide some sort of guidance, to no avail. Now I turn to the community for help...

First, if you know of an Intel site I missed, please tell me. Secondly, if you have specific recommendations for an Intel main board, based on the 965/975 chipsets, please share your thoughts. Finally, if there's a non-Intel recommendation (a la ASUS), please let me know.

(And, yes, I would buy one of the Dell offerings, but I've got a perfectly good case, PS, HDDs, etc. that I'd like to make use of. I AM looking at Dell for a replacement for my aging Sony VAIO PCG-GRZ610 laptop....)
