You mean exciting. Exiting means that the subject is in the process of leaving a place. e.g. "The only developers out there are exiting the fields of innovation."
Yes there is a plethora of inane, tacked-together games out there. The trick is: do your research. IGN.com is a good one, especially for consoles. You DON'T want to be wasting NZ$100 on a game, unless it's gold.
I'm waiting for Starcraft 2 (which looks like a 3d version of SC - exactly what I want!), Metroid Prime: Corruption and The next Resident Evil (Hooray for Wii!).
I can't remember who said it above, but it was correct: they (the developers) don't have to reinvent the wheel, all they need to do is add a feature or two that makes their game more pleasurable. More pleasurable = more sales. More sales = more attempts to add more pleasurable features to the next slew of titles. Ad infinitum.
