| Re: Racism:Do you beleive it's still present in our society? Blatant, individual racism has been all but eradicated in today's society. However, we now have colorblind racism to take its place. Materialists would argue that racism today relies on the system and its racist ideologists to exist, which I agree with. Based on past legacies, there is still a high degree of inequality between whites and minorities, even racism is supposedly gone. Colorblind racism is very dangerous, because it's not something easily noticed or thought about. And that's exactly how it survives. Unfortunately, racism is as old as human civilization itself, and it will die alongside it, as well. There were always be racism, only the form of it will change. Blatant racism has fallen out of favor since the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, colorblind racism took its place. One day, this will fall out of favor and something new will come to power. The cycle will go on and on, it will never stop. |
