I was lucky to have had the opportunity to live in many different countries and my feeling is that racism is present in every society . However in Western societies there is some kind of effort to fight it. I don't know how succesful it is , maybe it is driving a lot of it underground. I've never had the impression most folks think or have thought changing some words would solve the problem. It seems to me that these are simply small steps toward a less bigoted culture. As you said, at least we are attempting to do something. We have fumbled the ball quite a bit but, that's no reason to give up and revert back to the past. Not that your saying that... peace
