| To base the characters of Ellie and Emma solely through their relationships with Sean is ridiculous. First off, Ellie wasn't just Sean's rebound girl, she was with Sean for over a year. I'm pretty sure that a rebound girl is like a quickie stop-in rather than a relationship.
Also, Emma is a strong character, but that means bad things as well as good things. Sometimes she's so self righteous and uppity that she distances herself from people. She's idealistic, but oftentimes stupidly so.
Ellie is definitely more introverted. She had a hard time grasping difficult situations in her life but she's managed to deal. She has a hard time letting people get inside her.
Frankly, I like Ellie better. Ellie is a girl who seems to care about others and while some of you may call her weak she's managed to carve out a nice life for herself. She's coped with issues in her own way and she's dealt with relationships in her own way. She may be weak, but she's also meek, and the latter is a virtue.
On a semi-related note, I think it's commendable that the Degrassi writers and producers have created such interesting characters. The dialogue of Degrassi will always be cheesy and cringe inducing, but the storyline and characters wind up into a nice ball of quality. |
