Why, you may ask?

Because of global warming, the north pole will melt. All of that fresh water will desalinate the north Atlantic and shut off the Gulf Stream. Northern Europe will freeze and trigger an ice age.

The good thing is that it will counter global warming, bad thing is the permafrost will kill my roses. Scotland will be under a mile of ice so it's not all bad.
