The GOP is in a no-win situation right now. The religious right has successfully hijacked the party and the war on Iraq has screwed them over with the voting base in general. If it wasn't for all the money tied to the party I'd fully expect the party to collapse.

As it is, the next few years will be interesting from a political standpoint. The party can't reinvent itself while under the control of the Religious Right, and it's only going to swing more to their side of thigs.
