I tried the PC version of BeOS (in its preliminary open source development form) a couple of years ago. Most of the system was quite stable and efficient, although the media player crashed quite often and played audio and video at twice normal speed (and sometimes even pitch!)

I believe I'd love to give Haiku a try once it's stable enough for a pre-release beta.
